i use tetra color bits for all of my tanks. it is a staple food which is good for everyday and does help alittle with color as well.

For bettas, i use only hikari betta bio-gold. it is statically best for bettas and i have had nothing but sucess in using it.

For my saltwater tanks, i use tetra micro crabs for the easy to eat and color enhancer, along with seaweeds and BS.

my goldfish will eat tetra goldfish crisp. that shiny blue bottle. It is good and doesnt cloud the tank.

You didn't say what kind of fish you have, but if you buy them in a pet store, they can recommend what to feed them, based on what kind of tank you have, salt or freshwater, cichlids, goldfish, betta's, whatever.

They can also tell you how much and how often to feed them and how to keep your water at the right pH levels.

For what type of food would depend on the type of fish you have but the brands I would recommend are: Omega One (http://www.omegasea.net/home.html) and Hikari (http://www.hikariusa.com/). Both are top of the line foods: I personally use Omega One because it's more natural. Hikari can also be quite expensive.

For my cichlids and live-bearers i use Tetra-Min Pro Crisps, once a day. For the catfishes mostly Wardley's Algae Discs(it's the only brand that has Algae as the first ingredient).
