It looks like the tail has been sliced into strips. What caused this and how do you fix it?

Could it be fin rot? If so, I think it's fungal and you could get a special fungicide to put in the water to get rid of it. Suggest you look up fish diseases on the web and look at pictures to identify it exactly - then go to a vet or a local fish-keeper for proper advice.

Dissolve some sea salt (non-iodized aquarium salt) in some boiling water and add it to the tank

One teaspoon of salt per liter

Likely fin rot. Make sure your water is clean and add the appropriate antibiotic if its still rotting. Melafix will also help it heal once conditions improve.

That's fin rot. Mardel makes a very good medicine for it. or you could do a salt bath, which also works very well when used in conjunction with medication.

you cant fix it but you can put in stuff so it heals faster ask your pet store what to do
