Today I did my daily routine of checking my Betta and there is this white stuff on him that kinda floats when he swims. (It's attached, but long enough to trail). Is it ick? I put some Cure-Ick in. 10 drops per gallon.

I have two goldfish. One became ill initially, just very lathergic but has since shown strong signs of a bacterial infection. The other has shown definite white spot symptoms with the salt grain like spots and hanging at the surface. he's also very lathergic.
I've moved the fish with the internal bacterial infection to a separate tank and treated him with the appropriate medication, and I've treated the other for white spot but I'm not sure if he may have an internal infection also. He is very lathergic and kind of has 2 small swollen areas at either end of his tummy, not a definite swelling but more making him look like an odd shape! His colour looks ok (except all the white specks) and he is eating ok. Should I be treating him for white spot or would I be better treating for bacterial infection? I dont think I can do both, I am using interpet 6 & 9.
I have checked the water and all levels are fine.
can anyone help?

I have my betta fish in a ft tank, With female guppies and platies, But sometimes i think he is bored or somthing, Sometimes he lies on the plants (real ones) Its like hes resting there or somthing, Is this normal? , I have check my ph,ammonia and its at normal levels, He looks healthy, Do you think he would be happier in a breeder net/box? ,Or just leave him in the community tank, None of the fish in there pick on him,

With the hot weather and the air conditioner running, the water level in my 20 gallon tank is evaporating. How long should I let the pitcher of water sit before adding it to tank ? I did add the chemicals to it.

I have a 2.5 gallon fish tank and 3 very small fish that won't get much larger. I have a filter, gravel, and 2 small plants in there. It's all brand new so I havent put my fish in the new tank yet. It says the filter should operate 24 hours prior to putting the fish in the tank. How often should I clean it once my fish are in there?

I picked up a used aquarium and it included what I was told was gravel, when I bleached and boiled the rocks though it turns out it wasn't gravel at all but charcoal, is this done for some special reason in a freshwater tank or were they making a mistake with it's use? I've always used regular gravel myself and have never heard of using anything else.

i have a pair of german blue rams and i am trying to get them to breed, do they prefer live plants or are plastic plants going to be enough? i also read that they like a cave to be able to breed in is this true? i have some more jagged rocks in the tank should i get more smooth rocks or does that not matter? thank you.

I have a either 20 gallon or 10 gallon tank, with 2 zebra dianos, 1 dwarf gourami, 2 mollies, 1 sucker fish, and a tiny sunset platy.
The tank is starting to get dirty, like the rock has a lot of green stuff on it, but not a huge amount. so does the plant and the pot. I don't know what to clean the rock with, i already tried with a clean rag and water but none came off. i want to make sure that i don't clean it with harmful chemicals that will hurt my fish, but i want to clean it because i looks bad. I have a filter, but i only clean the WATER in the tank. What do i do?

My goldfish has been in a hospital tank for about 2 weeks now b/c I am trying to treat her lethargy and cottony growth, eye cloud, etc.

she started out with lethargy and her scales being all peely, I treated with melafix and coppersafe and that problem healed. However, now she has this cottony growth that won't stay away.

I have been doing frequent water changes, aquarium salting, and using a mix of melafix and pimafix now for about a week. the pimafix really helped at first but now it seems to only lessen the cottony growth and eye cloud growth for days 1 and 2 but then starts to come back again on day 3.

any ideas on how i can make her better? she's fighting really hard and obviously does not want to give up, so i really want to help her out and get her back to normal in her tank w/ her other buddies.

thanks in advance!

I had a betta and 3 danios in my tank. One danio was nipped to death by another, and my last friendly danio is being pushed around by the larger one. Its fins and tail are really battered, and I'm not sure if it'll live. On the other hand, I don't want to leave the aggressive danio in with my betta if it's going to kill my betta too. I need to get rid of one; which one?
