I alrdy have 3 tanks in my house but was thinking of getting a 4th to keep cichlids in. I have never kept Cichlids before. My question is how many could i keep in a 100g tank and can i mix diffrent kinds of Cichlids or would i need to keep all the same type eg all zebra.

Thanx for answering

I bought a guppy fish today - orange and white tail... as I examined closely, it could be the tail is loosing its color. It's head - looks as if there is a white lump...not too sure because the tank is a bit turbid due to cycling I suppose.

I have also noticed that the water smells stale and it has gone partly cloudy. I did a half water change,Cleaned my filters but still it is the same. Can anyone help please!

Hi,
I have a cycled 29 gallon tank with 4 bronze corydoras and 1 male betta, to this mixture I would like to add 2 female black mollies, but is that even a possibility considering the fact that corydoras are intolerant to salt while mollies need the extra aquarium salt to stay healthy? The tank has a 30-55 gallon external filter and if the answer is no, please suggest some other fish that would work nicely.
Thanks!!!!

I would like to set up my first tropical fish tank, as I have been looking after the one we have in work for about 6 months now and absolutely love them so much I want my own to look after at home :) I'd like some advice from seasoned fish keepers on the best way to set up my tank, any tips and better ways to do things that you've picked up in your experience?

Thanks!

Hi,
I have a 29 gallon tank, cycled, with the following
-three large rock hideouts
-a 55 gallon filter
-an air wand
-a heater so the temperature stays between 78-80F
-3" natural colored gravel
-plastic plants

It already has 1 male betta and four bronze corydoras, could I add to that a school of 6 tiger barbs? The reason being is there is a post on craigslist.com for a tiger barb in need of a home that is currently in a jar because it was "too aggressive." I believe there was only one barb, so would a school help spread out the aggression? Also, what would be some other fish that would work nicely in my tank?
Thanks!!!

I have a betta that I rescued. I bought him a ten gallon tank w/ filter, heater and plants tonight since he's doing so well. Can I use him to cycle the tank? Would that be ok? He would only be a small bio - load on the tank right? I think it would work well but want to make sure.

Also, once he gets completly better I'm gonna put him in my community tank. So, I was thinking about using the 10 gallon for a sorority tank. How many females could I comfortably put in the 10 gallon?

After a failed attempt with rescuing a female betta from petco...I am now the proud mom of a very handsome and active male. It's been 24 hours and there is the beginnings of a bubble nest, and he is eating well and reacting to my presence. I have noticed that the water temp has increased 2 degrees during the day, 75-77. He is in a 2 gallon tank on his lonesome. I live in so. calfornia, at this time of year it gets really hot during the day, and cool in the evening. (20-30 degree changes). Is this going to stress him out? Should I put on a heater for the evening? Should I move him to my a/c bed room? Should I wait and see if he shows signs of stress from this environment...as he is very happy and active right now.

I'm a new, obsessively researched betta enthusiast...and would appreciate any input!

I have an albino oscar about 4 inches in length who has lost a good portion of his tailfin and another fin along his back has started to turn black. I am treating the condition as recommended. However I am curious if the damaged fins will heal completely or grow back?

I have a male in a 2.5 gallon divided tank, and a female in a separate 1 gallon tank. She is quite pudgy and looks like she may be full of eggs. (she was very slender when I bought her) How do I know when it is okay to introduce her to the other side of the divided tank? He just spends most of his time hanging out beneath the plant on his side, and hasn't blown any bubble nest yet. Or does he do that after I introduce her? Advise appreciated. :)

I bought some plants tonight for my aquarium. They come in little containers - like little pots. Do I just put them in the aquarium like that or am I supposed to take them out of the pots and put them in the gravel? I have no idea. I've never had live plants in my fish tank before.

I recently put my 3 guppy fry (1 week old) into a new tank, 5gallons, all appeared well and they were feeding on powdered flake food fine until I Liquifry 2 a food specially formulated for livebearers fry.
The next day 2 of the fry had disappeared and I assumed they'd died of a mystery condition and been sucked into the gravel by my undergravel filter. A day later whilst still looking for the missing fry I found one, immediately transferred him back into a floating box of my 10gallon aquariums water and left him, he was in a terrible state, swimming upside down and spinning.
He seems to have recovered now but today I found the other fry amongst the gravel and he too is alive and back into the other water. He has absolutely no tail though, will it grow back? He appears to be feeding and is comfortable with my other fry. The 5 gallon tank was emptied, but parametre testing showed no ammonia, trace nitrites, trace nitrates and a pH of 7. Is this finrot, if so why?

I also have a controller for a 450mm tube at 15w and would like to know how much more light I can get this to power.

I got one answer last time but I'm not sure, I need a couple more answers so I can make up my mind. I have a Clark's Clownfish, I have a Firefish, and I have a Camel back Shrimp. With a couple of snails in it. My clownfish has this sorta of white coat on him. It's not on him like dots but sorta like they are his scales sticking up. But not bloated and he doesn't looks like a pine cone. He doesn't want to eat and he stays at the top of the tank. Before He stayed at the bottom. When I showwed my dad so we can go to the fish store, he said not to worry about it because he might have go into a fight. I'm not sure if it did though. I remember the camel back shrimp would get those long antennae thing and touch the clownfish with them, but I thought it was cleaning it. Anyone know? Please I need answers this time.

I have 4 species of fish:

1 Betta (Lives in a bowl by himself)
2 Dwarf Gouramis
2 Neon tetras
3 Cory Cats

I feed all of my fish twice a day. The food I use are from the company Tetra. I feed my Betta Freeze Dried Blood Worms. My gouramis and neon tetras eat tropical flakes and my cory cats get whatever the gouramis and neon tetras don't get as the flakes fall to te bottom. I do this twice a day and before I go to bed I give my cory cats a tropical tablet just in case they don't get enough from the flakes.

What are some other food choices that provide nutritious value for my fish? Thanks to all that answer!

I have 2 glass catfish and one has very short feelers, like about 2 cm. I didn't notice it till I put him in the tank with my other fish. I just want to know if he'll grow them back out or if he'll die from not being able to feel for his food.
