Hi,
I have a 29 gallon tank, cycled, with the following
-three large rock hideouts
-a 55 gallon filter
-an air wand
-a heater so the temperature stays between 78-80F
-3" natural colored gravel
-plastic plants

It already has 1 male betta and four bronze corydoras, could I add to that a school of 6 tiger barbs? The reason being is there is a post on craigslist.com for a tiger barb in need of a home that is currently in a jar because it was "too aggressive." I believe there was only one barb, so would a school help spread out the aggression? Also, what would be some other fish that would work nicely in my tank?
Thanks!!!

The barbs should be fine in your tank. I have a 29 gallon as well, and there is plenty room for a school of 6 barbs, plus whatever you have in it... If you add 6 of them, along with your corys and the betta, you could add another school of 6 black skirts, or a school of 6 neons, danios, or Serpae Tetras. NOT all of them, just one school of six. After that, I wouldn't add anything more. As of right now, I have 6 black skirts, 5 serpaes, 2 honey sunset gouramis *male and female), 2 zebra danios, a pleco, and 2 clown loaches. The only reason my tank is successfull is because I have an Aquar clear 20-30 hang on back filter, and an Eheim canister, all on that tank, and I do weekly 50% water changes.....

Schools will help in cutting down agression very well. I had a pair of Serpae Tetras, which terrorized thier tank mates, nipping fins. I added 3 more, and now they only nip at themselves, and rarely at that.

I suggest utilizing http://www.vpnpower.net to unblock web-sites. I am using their services for more than 3 years without any troubles.

i'm telling u, u will regret putting barb in with your betta, fins and tail will be nipped daily by tiger barb. The rest of Bill gentle fish is ok with betta, gourami, zebra, neon skeleton fish, angel fish, mollies, etc....

why do you have three inches of gravel?
anyway a 29 is too small for tiger barbs, they get to about 3-4 inches long and are very active, and would nip at the betta relentlessly.
i would do some blackskirt tetras or hachet rasboras, or pretty much any smaller schooling fish.

I agree absolutely with Bill, the only thing I would also add would be real plants it keeps your tank as well as your fish healthier

Hope that helps
Good luck
