Is it possible to get several breeding pairs of different species (cichlids, such as Kribensis, Angelfish, and Rams) in a 58 gallon aquarium? I've bred Kribensis before, but I don't know if there is enough room in a 58 gallon to have those three species together.

I have revamped my fish list for my 58 gallon aquarium that is currently cycling. Would these fish be compatible with eachother: Angelfish, Blue Rams, Kribensis, Rainbowfish, Yo-Yo Loaches, Corys, Keyhole Cichlids, and Golden-Eyed Dwarf Cichlids? I've never been able to find the last breed of fish, but I absolutely love them, so does anyone know where to find them? Are there any fish breeds in my list that I should take out? How many fish of each breed should I get (would I be able to get anything to breed?....I've bred Kribs before). I have had fish for over 13 years and I know a lot of info about fish, but I haven't worked with any of these fish (besides Kribs and the loaches/corys) and I would just like to know what experiences other people have had with these fish and their interactions with other fish in a community aquarium. Thanks!

Also, my pH is around 7.4--will these fish be ok?

(continued) I seperated my male and female bets using a divider, if I want to breed them is this the best way for my fish to get used to eachother? The male keeps flaring at my female. He makes bubbles. The female seems to want to get closer to him but I'm not sure the male wants to breed with her because he is flaring at her. But then again he is making bubbles... mabe he wants to mate?

What tail will my fries have?

I tried breeding around a week ago, and it was successful. My white half moon and my dark blue round-tail bred and all that stuff. Right now almost all are swimming, and they have dark heads but white bodies. Will they have both white and dark blue colors, or will they be only one. And will they have halfmoon tails or round?

In a span of a month, how big does a fry get?

I'm amazed how many questions get put here about fish problems that are related to not letting the tank age and cycle properly before introducing fish, and then testing their water for readiness. People really should do their research before they get into fish. I also blame the stores that sell people entire tank setups and fish without any questions asked, I think that's terrible and could constitute animal cruelty. People buy things like tropical saltwater fish and wonder why they're dead inside of a day or two!!? Fish aren't like most other pets it takes weeks between beginning preperation and getting your fish.
Who is to blame? The pet store? The over-keen buyer? Both? Does this indeed constiture cruelty or am I just a bit of a soft touch for my many fishy friends?

I just got a Whisper Heater by Tetra and was wondering if its ok to put it underwater completely. It says it doesn't need to be adjusted and will keep the tank at a certain temp. A red light is suppose to come on when heating, but since i got it, it hasn't. I just have the top part cap of the heater where the cord shows above the water and was wondering if thats the problem.

It turns out my water is hard...whatever that means, and pet owner says I need to put 3 teaspoon of water conditioner in the tank...But I got a really small tank...about 6 litres of water... my tank measure: 29x17x12cm /1000=6L

The package says to add 2ml for 10 L....so that means I should add 0.2 ml of water conditioner?

How much is 0.2ml? would that be equivalent to a tiny drop?

Does it mean the fish is overly excited that you are in the room or does it mean he/she's hungry.

I have been testing my tank water every other day now in my currently cycling aquarium. I am wondering if there is a way to get the PH and alkalinity to go down. As of yesterday the water parameters are:

nitrate 20-40
nitrite 10
hardness 25-75
alkalinity 180-300
ph 7.8-8.4

Once the tank is cycled I am planning on getting 2 dwarf frogs. Are the ph and alkalinity levels ok for them to live in? They have been staying pretty constant. I have been putting a lot of effort into this tank and really dont want these frogs to die a few days after I get them. If the levels arent good, how do I get them to go down. I have not been doing any water changes because it will slow down the cycling time. Once the tank is established will a water change bring the levels down?

I just returned from my 1 week vacation, and I left my aunt to feed my cycling zebra dans, and I specifically told her 2 only put a this much, but when I got home I realized that 1/4 of the fish food in the container was gone. It was in the aquarium hiding underneath rocks, and plants. The water was brown, and smelly. My aunt claims that the fish looked more hungery so she gave them more. I did a 100% water change, and decided 2 start my cycling again...arghh. Is this right?

I have a 10 gallon tank that was given to me as a gift with everything in it including the fish. Yes my tank is overstocked with 7 neon tetras, a baby pleco, 3 cory cats, and a baby red capped oranda. However I do not have the money to get a bigger tank so for now they are going to have to stay that way because I have no money and everyone is either young or naturally little so at the moment there is plenty of room. Before anyone has any remarks about the goldfish my tank is 75 degrees and I do 10% water changes every 2 days so the amonia level is minimal. I want to get an air pump for my tank because it is over stocked and I notice some occasional gasping so what am I going to need? I obviously under stand the pump but does it come with tubing? is there anything else I need besides the tubing and where can I pick one up thats cheap and good? Also Is there anything else I can do for my betta who is in a 1 gallon betta tank that is not heated or filtered but I do change 1 cup
