i bought those bulbs at walmart because i wanted something different in my 55 gallon tank i have two plecos,1 jack dempsey,and an oscar.....i was hoping if anyone can tell me if that will affect my fish...??????..i saw that it wanted to float so i buried it in the gravel was that a good move or not???????HELLLPPPPPP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I noticed my female guppy beginning to look pregnant last week, but I don't know when the actual fertilization began, so I don't know exactly how far along in pregnancy she is. I don't want to move her from the tank too soon, so she doesn't have to be seperated and stressed out longer then she needs to be. Any tips on when I should put her into the breeding box? Thanks so much for your time and energy, I really appreciate it.

my tank has quite a selection in it 4 pink kissing gouramis 2 dwarf gouramis 2 angel fish mollies 2 clown loah,a plec,4 balloon mollies,and 6 penguin tetras the tank size is 250 litres what other fish could i put in there the tank has been estabilshed a year and all fish get on thanks in advance

Okay so about an hour ago, I go look at my fish tank and my molly, who I believe is female, had a long red strand hanging from her back end. I just figured she was pooping but an hour later and its still attached, what is going on? How can you tell if they are pregnant?

i have an albino frog in my fish tank with about 10 fish and i dont over feed the fish or frog or anything but the water gets cloudy and seems to need to be changed every day is this normal what can be causing this cloudiness
if it is the frog what else can i put him in does he need a fish tank with a filter or can i put him in a big tupperware sorta thing with holes in it

HOWEVER! my tank scale is a like 82. Everytime I turn my heater to 75, It shuts off. Is it ALWAYS going to be like this just because of the water or will it adjust and work anyway? OR do I need a new heater

Sometimes the goldfishes are very active, swimming around and stuff. Sometimes they are inactively, just floating in a corner. Does being active or inactive have anything to do with their level of hunger?

I have heard this " if you have a betta you'll need to be a silk plant because plants provided in starter kits are plastic and can tear betta fins." But will the plastic ones hurt them bad or has any of your got hurt by them(if you have one)and also is a one gallon tank good for them? And is it better to have real plants for your betta or are plastic just fine?

can i have an ornate bichir,fire eel, 2 king tiger plecos with african cichlids
? i have alot of rocks wood and hiding places along with swiming space
i have a 40 gallon ( the ornate bichir and fire eel are small i no they can get big)

how many african cichlids can i get ?

with no one killing or fighting eachother !!!

I bought one Dojo loach from the lfs and the very next day it was completely missing from the tank. I checked the floor around the tank and also checked the filters. I pulled all the plants and rocks from the subtrate and ran my fingers all throughout the sand subtrate, no alive loach and no dead loach. I then bought another Dojo Loach from the lfs, he was acting funny (laying on its back, laying on its side, not afraid of me getting my hands around him or even holding him inside the water) and then he also disappeared completely from the tank. Again, I checked the ground around the tank, the subtrate, the filters...

The loaches were both about 3 inches long so I doubt they could have been consumed by my other community fish over night. I have platies, guppies, mollies, danios, gouramis, snails, cory's, and one pleco. All are one inch and under.

Any suggestions as to where these loaches are disappearing to would be helpful...

I just recently got a new fish tank.One of my goldfish got clamped fins, and eventually he died. I took my other fish out and added fungus clear. My tank has been blue-green for over 24hours. I cant find any information on-line wether Its ok to put the goldfish back in.

well this morning when i woke up i saw him on the rocks hes not dead but it made me worry but then he started swimming around but when i go to my room hes usally on the pepples and well hes not swimming around like he used to.hes a cosby groumi or whatever and ive had him for like 3 or 4 years.could it be my 3 goldfish,killing him with their high ammonia levels?

I just added a neon blue gourami to a 55 gallon tank that contains 5 black neons, 2 diamond tetras, 2 corys, and a marigold platy. As soon as I added the gourami to the tank the platy started stalking him in the tank and won't leave his side. Is this going to stress out the gourami and does anyone know why this is happening?

My girlfriend has had her goldfish for quite some time now and its been in its tank with some other goldfish for about 6 months. Recently he has started to sit on the bottom of the tank and look depressed. He doesn't move unless he see's someone by the tank, but then he instantly sinks back down again. We frequently change the water and clean the filter. The other fish seem fine. What can we do to make poor Bobba smile again?

I have a 29 gallon tank with neon tetras, guppies, corydora, algae eater, gold ones, zebra danios, glo-light, and 2 different mollies
I have a seperater so it could be seperate in my tank the guppies are 2 fry one is male one is female so i could seperate them from the tank and betta

I have recently noticed that one of my female guppies has developed a sack-like thing on her underside. At first I thought she was giving birth but she's definitely not! What is it? I have uploaded a photo of her to my site http://www. freewebs. com/tomstaples/can.jpg (i have had to put spaces in because yahoo wont let me type it out fully) so you can have a look if it helps...
