Does anyone know where I can get some inexpensive Live Rock? I live in Virginia Beach and all the local fish stores are like $7.00/lbs here for some really simple Fiji.

I have a orange molly in my tank and just recently i have noticed that it started to get fat.
In my tank i have all liverbearers: platys, guppies and mollies.
Im almost certian that all of my 3 mollies are female because of there large nut unpointed anal fin.

So why as my molly got so big?
Can liveberers cross breed ?
If it is pregnant when shall i put it into the breeding box?
And how can i be 100% sure what sex they are?

Best answer which is explained well .. will get 10 points !!

Please help! Danny !

I bought some plants the other day for my tank. I'm trying to learn. I've got some books from the library and am teaching myself about proper plant care in the aquarium. However, I have a brazilian pennywort that is starting to look bad. I don't know how to diagnose the problem. If I posted a picture of it on here, would anyone be able to tell me what's wrong with it (ie. lighting, water quality, temperature, etc.)? Also, know any good sites that might help me out about learning how to care for them and troubleshooting any problems?

I just bought some plants for my tank the other day. I have noticed a snail on one of the plants. What's the deal with snails? Are they good, bad or what? I have a betta in the tank - 10 gallons. Is one snail gonna turn into a bunch of snails? Are they gonna eat my plants? I know nothing of snails. Help me out a little, please.

I've had my tank setup for around five months now and the filter system only been cleaned once. how often should it be clean? I have a Fluval 304 unit.I have a 40 gallon tank. I have... 1 shrimpgoby, 2 pajama cardinal, 2 percula clownfish, 1 cleaner shrimp, 1 red general starfish. All of my fishes diet are different, some eat pellet, flake, brine or meaty. I have my tank water change every six weeks by a prof. however I only had my filter system cleaned once. So again how often should I have my filter system cleaned so my fishes can stay healthy.

I added three tiger barbs to my fish tank in hopes of helping the cycle process go a tad bit faster... i have been treating the water with that stuff called cycle every day for the first week then once a week after that... i have tested the PH and the tempreature is good... I am having no difficutlies with the tiger barbs but I had just gotten home and noticed that one of them was stuck to the filter... so i got the net and got it off, but then it swam really quickly away, and then floated to the top... to the whole conclusion... it died... what do you think may be the cause of this?? Also, they are relatively small compared to some of the tiger barbs I have seen... should i buy more? where do i go from here?

...that will eat bloodworms and Cichlid pellets that have not be eaten and have just fallen to the bottom of the tank? I'm looking for something that won't get any bigger than 2 inches max. But what else would you say if size didn't matter for me?

Thanks in advance.

I just got a new aquarium and got a BGK and im feeding it blood worms, but i put the worms into the feeder cup that floats at the top. I have some other fish that will eat the bloodworms from the cup but the BGK just hangs out at the bottom in a little hole. Does anybody have any suggestions to ensure my BGK gets some food?

My pleco, Ralph, now lives alone in his 20 gallon long tank. My husband wants me to get more fish for the tank, and he says get 5-6 discus. I know discus grow, but when my goldfish grow too large for their tank, I can move everyone 'up one' so the discus will live in a 45 gallon tank. Can they grow larger if I get them a larger than 45 gallon tank?

2007-07-17 17:29:10 · 5 answers · asked by Kris L 7

My friend has been trying to breed Discus for long time now, but to no avail. All his pairs, eat their eggs immediately. He has tried covering the tank to make them feel safe and sometimes kept them side by side with other pairs to bring out their protective instinct. He feeds them beef heart, blood worms, worms, larve etc. I must mention that he doesn't have the tools for monitoring the water chemistry. He does use a heater and a thermometer. Another thing I must say, is that since he doesn't get much water supply and he is busy with work, he doesn't do much water changes. I notice, the water is dirty most of the time. Now, that I have given the entire senario, please explain as to why they are doing this to their young and whats the solution.
