I just purchased myself a 5gallon hex at walmart for $29.99 and it included the filter already
heater cost me $10 at petsmart
Food for your betta about $3
Waterconditioner for your betta $2
small bag of gravel $ 4
small gravel siphon $ 6
That makes about $55 total
Hope that helps

I bought a one gallon bowl at wal mart for just under six dollars. At that size, you probably don't want to use any gravel. Betta food is only a couple of dollars, maybe 2-3 bucks. Water conditioner is less than five. Fifteen bucks, maybe. Not including the fish itself. If you can afford to get a larger tank for the fish, then I highly recommend a five gallon or ten gallon tank. The fish will be happier and so will you. Water will be easier to take care of the larger amount you have.

around 100 dollars at most,
a tank,net, water conditioners, betta food are the needs, it should go about 15-30 dollars.
If you go with a larger tank youwill probably end up spending 100 dollars, as for decor and stuff. Filters and heaters are for larger tanks.

honestly you and you fish will be a lot better off with anything that's filtered and heated.
bettas are tropical fish that prefer temps around 80°F, and although they can survive at room temp they will not thrive. to provide them with heat you need at least 2.5 gallons for a 7.5watt heater. also, they do NOT originate from puddles so keeping them in tiny bowls is like keeping anything else in a small home, it will feel cramped. keeping your betta in an unfiltered bowl (especially anything under 1gallon) will result in you needing to do 100% water changes every 3days. that's a lot of work just to provide a home that's not really that great. it's kind of like keeping you in an unheated closet with no toilet and having someone clean your poop and pee off the floor every 3 days.
here's a few price estimates for a good homes:.
2.5gallon tank (plain, no hood, no filter, just a tank) - $10
7.5watt heater - $7
gravel - $3
filter (I suggest 10i by whisper filters) - $10 to $15
a few silk plants (if you wish) - $1+
thermometer - $1
water conditioner - $2
total = $39
5gallon tank (plain, no hood, no filter, just a tank) - $10
25watt heater - $10
gravel - $3
filter (I suggest 10i by whisper filters) - $10 to $15
a few silk plants (if you wish) - $1+
thermometer - $1
water conditioner - $2
total = $42max
10gallon tank (plain, no hood, no filter, just tank) - $10
50watt heater - $15
gravel - $3
filter (I suggest 10i by whisper filters) - $10 to $15
a few silk plants (if you wish) - $1+
water conditioner - $2
total = $46max
plus fish - $1.50+ depending on gender, type, and place you buy.
it costs a little more, but you'll be providing you fish with a proper home. as a result he'll be active and more colorful. plus you won't have to do 100% water change every 3 days. however a 20% water change once a week or so is a good idea. you can use a turkey baster to suck 20% of the water out and replace it with clean conditioned water.
if you have any more questions feel free to email me and I'd be happy to answer them as best as I can :)
