Okay so about an hour ago, I go look at my fish tank and my molly, who I believe is female, had a long red strand hanging from her back end. I just figured she was pooping but an hour later and its still attached, what is going on? How can you tell if they are pregnant?

It most likely is poop....sometimes it doesn't just fall off, I've had fish with poop danglies for hours. Looks gross, but hey....pregnant mollies look bloated and have a darkened spot near the anal fin, kinda looks like there is something in her.

pregnnant mollies are fat and when they are close to dropping their fry will really slow down and hide in an area where they feel they can release their babies.

The thing attached to the fish might be a worm or paracite, or it could be a poop. It is common, to see long strains of poop and depending on what you feed them, it could be red like that.

No,my fish was an orange molly that pooped for about 2 weeks.I had it for about 2 more years and it didn't have any babies or lay eggs or whatever they do.

it's more than likely that it's just poop. the red color is probably from the food you feed your fish with. a lot of foods that are intended to increase colors in fish are red colored and cause an increase in red pigments within the fish. this sometimes also affects the feces...

That is poop. It may be constipated. Try feeding it a small slice of zucchini or cucumber. This is quite common, there is nothing to worry about.
