Bettas like smaller tanks because they don't swim around much.

YES! You can put your betta in your tank. I would suggest dividing the tank and putting in a cory and an algae eater along with a group of neon tetras - they are nonagressive AND quick to get away. Do it on a weekend so you can check on things.

After a week, and all is well, I'd take the divider down. I think I would put small fry in a square side basket until they are about 4 weeks old. . . . as long as you have real or artificial 'plants' so they can hide.

If you are breeding male and female guppies, I would separate them and leave the divider up. The males can really harrass the females and stress them. Also, you don't know who bred whom. Put some plants along the divider so it looks more natural. Just don't get one side too crowded. Use the 1 inch of fish per gallon of water.

I'd make sure to have a long bubble stone for oxygen and circulation on both sides, too.

I don't know why anyone would tell you not to put a betta in a tank. You already know not to put 2 males together.

Sounds like a pretty tank.

Yes you can put a betta with other fish, I actually have a male betta with zebra danios, balloon mollies, sunburst mollies and pepper cory's, and they get along just fine with each other, I haven't witnessed any fin nipping what so ever, the only thing I would see a problem with is your male guppy, but only then if it has long fins, but as you mentioned it's still pretty small, they might get used to each other

Hope that helps
Good luck

I would try it, but, if at any time your betta or any other fish in the tank shows aggression towards one another, remove him right away. Bettas do not do to well with high stress situations, however, females are much more tolerant of other fish than males, i would go for a female or two. Also, many fish find male bettas fins a great play toy, so they go after them because there so long and flowing with the current, also bright and flowing with the current :) Bettas dont do to well with other fish because they are very solitary fish, they live alone in puddles, with only that of their own species.
GOOD LUCK!!!

I have never had a Male betta display aggression towards anything other than other male bettas. If anything, my fish were more nippy/aggressive to the male betta and his long, attractive fins suffered as a result. I don't personally feel that a separator is necessary unless you've got more than one male in a tank - and even then.. a 29 gallon tank is sufficient enough in size to where the two males would only interact as long as it would take one to dominate the other and it swim to a region of the tank not occupied by the dominant male. I wouldn't recommend it, though.

The dividers are a bad idea as they obstruct water flow. The Betta will likely attack Fancy Guppies and Mollies because of their longish fins. The other problem is that Algae Eaters become aggressive as they mature and it will likely attack the Betta.

My friend used to have a huge tank like yours. She had over 20 fish in there, and about 5 were bettas. One day I asked her if they killed other bettas or fish and she said that there were no problems. I dont know if they were male or females or both, but sometimes it does workout, just not very often. =]

You might be able to. I've always heard to not put them with fish that have bright, colorful, fancy tails like guppies-he may attack it. I'd also be afraid the danios or the mollies may nip at it's fins. Try a female betta, they're not as showy as the males, but they do have pretty colors, and they're not as aggressive as the males.

yes...you can but its not deffinate that the betta will not pick on any of the other fish...i used to have alot of the same kind of fish you did plus a betta ... but if youre worried about it get a female becasue they are less aggresive

you can get a female betta ~

Male betta's sometime can be mixed with other fish but they tend to go after fish that are very eye chaching~

Go to petco and get a caresheet and ask the fish person,
~but to me what it sounds like u can add one only once that might get it the mollies .
