If you just start out as a beginner, please stay away from cichlids, they are definately not beginner fish
I can tell you what I have in my 30 gallon tank:
2 pepper cory's (bottom feeder)
3 balloon mollies (1male & 2 females)
6 neon tetras (they are schooling fish)
3 mollies (the white ones, i think they are called dalmatian mollies , 1 male & 2 females)
4 guppies ( 1 male & 3 females, my own breed the adults unfortunately died)
5 orange dwarf platies (2males & 3 females, also my own breed)
5 zebra danios (they are also schooling fish)

These are all non aggressive fish

Lots of real plants and decorations for the fish to hide in

Hope that helps
Good luck

The kind of fish you can get usually depends on the type of habitat. Since you have a thirty gallon tank, most people will recommend you can have 30 small fish (1 fish per gallon). These can include goldfish, guppies, catfish, etc. Many of these fish are colorful and diverse, and will be able to be housed together. Just make sure when you are picking out your fish whether or not they are aggressive. Community-type fish can all live together, but aggressive fish may not be suitable with other fish and can cause problems in the aquarium.

Goldfish, white clouds (a sort of minnow), and danios can commonly look after chilly water. maximum danios stay rather small and desire to college, so which you will have numerous categories (minimal of three for a college) in a 30 gallon aquarium. besides the shown fact that, on the grounds which you would be so constrained via no longer having a heater, make investments the money (you may get a competent heater for $10-$20) and get one so as which you're able to have a greater numerous and colourful tank.
