I got a tank and a pretty betta fish abou two weeks ago. When I got him, I cleaned the tank and put him back in there, and he was happy. Today I got some plants to put in there instead of his one rock to make it feel more home-y for him. Normally he swims around and makes bubbles at the top of the tank, but now he's just sitting in the top corner staring at it. Why is he sad? Does he not want to adapt to his plants instead of his rock?

Well my male betta fish seems to have what looks like white "blisters" on his face. They are about the size of his eye, and it's only on his face. What could this be? An ich or parasite of some sort?

I just tested my fish tank for the 1st time. The tank has been good for more than a year now and just recently I notced some orange algea that is spreading accross the gravel which comes back if I turn the gravel up. Its not over feeding. Here are the test results.
GH-120
KH-240
PH-7.5
No2-.5
No3-40

I pretty sure I read the test right. I just got a lawnmower blenny and a scooter blenny to see if they clear it up, but I havent seen any changes yet. All the fish and the anemone are doing great so I dont think anything is too wrong, it just seems like some kind of algea bloom because I saw some hair algea growing which is unusual in my tank.

ok, so i got 2 dwarf puffers and one female guppy yesterday at petsmart. (at home i already have 3 zebra danios and one male guppy.) and they nippled the tail off my female guppy until she barely had a tail at all. (she is now dead). i dont want them to do the same with my male (he is so beautiful). So can they stay in a temp. bowl till, like friday or should i risk it and put them back in the tank with my guppy?

60-gallon tank. I don't want a simple goldfish set-up. I'd be interested in salt water tanks. What kind of fish could I put together? How do I take care of the species?

I built a very small pond with a liner from Home Depot and disquised it with large rocks - some inside the pond also. There is a pump to keep the water moving over a water fall that I built. Can I put a siamese fighting fish in the pond?

I just bought a new betta fish last Friday and it seems to me that his bowl already needs to be cleaned and it has been five days. My question is, is it okay to clean the bowl earlier than once a week? The saleslady told me to do it only once per week and to partially clean it but it just seems to me that it would be better for the fish to clean the entire bowl whenever I think it looks yucky. I could wait a few days but I prefer looking at a sparkly bowl rather than a cloudy one. Also the lady told me to feed him two small pellets of food ONCE a day but he has been eating throughout the day whenever I offer it to him. Am I overfeeding him? I don't want him to get sick from over eating but I also don't want him to be hungry either. Thanks for the advice.

I have a saltwater tank with the water level just an inch from the top. The temperature ranges from 78 - 80. Is it possible that the water is too high and is being affected by the lights, causing the high temperature?

I have 2 comet goldfish and 3 small goldfish. I just got these a few days ago. I am worried because one of the small goldfishes (who stands out a bit because she is red and white unlike the other two who are standard gold) has been hiding out in the cave almost all day. I watched them for a few hours today and when she did swim out of the cave she was very passive and when ever any of the fish would swim near she would swim away from them. She stayed near the bottom alot so I thought she had that bladder infection but she was swimming okay when she got the nerve...when she was on the top of the aquarium she seemed happy but when the other fish came around she swam back down to the bottom and eventually went back in her cave. The only thing that gets her out of her cave is if another fish comes in it. She appears afraid of the other fish and depressed but I have not seen any of them bully her. What should I do?

Also, is it okay to have the comets with the small goldfish?

i just baught a yellow male guppy fish (very small) and all he does is float at the top of the tank. i know you thinking "its dead". its not. it just floats there WHILE breathing. after a little while he will swim around for a minute but then floats again. i also have a turqoise male guppy and a red fish in the tank with him. i need to know if this is normal and what he is doing.

thankss.

I recently purchased 2 small discuses about 1-2inches from a local fish store. Their doing great very active, look healthy, and not even shy. The problem I have is getting them to eat. Its been 3 days now and I feed it the Hikari bloodworms. One I see seems to like eating then spitting the worms out a few times in a row and the other eats but rarely. Is this something to be worried about?
