I built a very small pond with a liner from Home Depot and disquised it with large rocks - some inside the pond also. There is a pump to keep the water moving over a water fall that I built. Can I put a siamese fighting fish in the pond?

Not unless you live somewhere tropical where it doesn't get cold - EVER.

If you dont want to risk losing it to bird or cat or whatever you'll need to put netting over the pond - but why put such a pretty creature in there, why not enjoy him inside where he'll be more comfortable and apreciated and put goldfish in the pond where they belong?

They live in outdoor ponds in the tropics. They will need a water temperature that never goes below about 75 F, nor above about 90 F. If your pond has those conditions, it could work. If not, you'd be wasting time and bettas.

Theoretically, yes, but a bird or nocturnal animal or neighbor's cat will most likely eat it. If he had an appropriate place to hide in the pond, under leaves or a rock shelf or a deep end, he might be okay.

Yes, until the temperature drops below about 65 over night. At that point the fish will probably die. Certainly it will die once the water temperature drops that low at night. So yes, for the summer, but after that you will need to bring the fish indoors.
