I got a tank and a pretty betta fish abou two weeks ago. When I got him, I cleaned the tank and put him back in there, and he was happy. Today I got some plants to put in there instead of his one rock to make it feel more home-y for him. Normally he swims around and makes bubbles at the top of the tank, but now he's just sitting in the top corner staring at it. Why is he sad? Does he not want to adapt to his plants instead of his rock?

He was used to his rock. You really shouldn't change a betta's habitat. I used to have one in my aquarium, then he started attacking my other fish, so I put him in a bowl. He was'nt as happy there, I know, but I couldn't buy another aquarium, and I didn't want him killing my fish. Sometimes bettas are like that. You can't make them mad, or sad, or just unhappy, they may never be the same. I suggest putting the rock back in it, and make an area around the rock with now plants, so he can have some free room.

-hope this helped!

lively and feisty fish like barbs and danios will rigidity the betta, they are no longer good alternatives. Your betta isn't lonely, they're solitary fish so something you get would be tank friends, yet no longer companions. the main suitable tank friends won't get in the bettas way. the main suitable decision is a backside dweller because of fact they continuously artwork with bettas. In my 10 gallon I chosen a team of corydora catfish, or kuhli loaches might artwork nicely too - yet pass with 4 of the two. you may pass with a calm form of tetra rather and notice how that is going, yet they do could be saved in a school so which you are going to need 5 or 6 of them. keeping in basic terms 2 or 3 decreases their experience of protection and will strengthen probabilities of aggression from the betta, and aggression in the direction of the tetras a threat you may evaluate even regardless of the undeniable fact that it does in many cases artwork.

He will be fine. It will just take some time for him to get used to his surroundings again. Give it a few days. Did he not act funny when you first brought him home for the first day or so? Totally normal.

Not to be rude, but bettas are very boring like that. I have two and they both sit in the corner a lot. Your betta is fine, as long as he eats regularly and moves around sometimes!

He liked his tank just the way it was, that's why he doesn't want an ole lady, their always rearranging things. Ha Ha Give him back his rock and take the plants away:-)

Think about it...he can't have friends because he will eat them.

He can't have a lady because look at how ugly they are!

Maybe he doesn't like the plants? Maybe he doesn't like your decorating touches...Try a different arrangement. Spice up his gravel. Give that guy a home wth pizzaz!

Any significant change to a fishes environment can make them act differently for a while. Give him time and he'll adjust to the change.

There is no problem with it so just leave it there. It's behaviour will be back to normal soon.
