I am getting a bowfront aquarium between 46-80 gallons and I want one or the other. I've done freshwater for about 8 years and have had great luck with all types of Cichlids mainly Firemouth and Red Devils. I would like to have Discus, but I have never had a planted tank. A good friend of mine wants me to start a saltwater tank, but I've never done that either. Which one is easier to maintain and which one will be more cost efficient. Money isn't the most important thing, but it does play a factor.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I just got a 10 gallon tank about a month ago. The filter seems to be working fine. I haven't changed the water yet. 3 fish have died and the water is looking very cloudy and foam collects on the top. What should I do? If your suggestion is to change the water then how do I go about this? Don't they need to have some of the old water put in with the new or something? Thanks so much, I am clueless!

I feed my beta freeze dried brine; how do you know how much to feed him? When I put the food in his tank, he goes crazy like he is starving. I feed him probably 30 pieces of food throughout the day, and he never acts like he has had too much to eat. How much and how often do y'all feed your beta?

My housemate's betta died recently & we're trying to figure out some forensic pathology here....

He was laying on the bottom of the tank & his chest (above the stomach, not the stomach area) was swelled & visibly red with blood. It looked almost like his heart exploded.

He had a bunch of floating plants & still water so his environment was good for him.

My housemate says its because he took a big gulp of freeze-dried brine-shrimp.

That & he's acusing my angel loach of killing it (as it was a recent addition to the tank).

I say its heart just exploded or it was bullied by the guppies its in with. I have seen male guppies nip at him several times.

I have had the angel loach for almost 2 years now, and it has never harmed anything before.

Do you have any ideas about what a swollen, blood gorged chest indicates in a fish?

Fish include
- Figure 8 puffer
- Molly/Guppy offspring
- Red Oscar

They all do it, but mostly my puffer, all are healthy and happy as far as I can tell, but they sometimes seem like they are loosing their minds.

I'm getting an axolotyl on Monday and I have most of the things I need for him. I put in a real plant, a filter and pump in the tank. What else does he need? I will get a hollow toy for him so he can hide etc. Is that all he needs? A heater or light for example. Thankyou. Any tips from axolotyl owners would be appreciated as well. Thanks so much

I have had like 6 frogs and they all die from there back legs pull them up to the top and they can't keep them down. It's like they get paralized and then stress themselves out and die or I'm not sure what the problem is

I looked at both of my two fish (algea eater and Koi) and both of them have little worm looking things attached to them, mostly near there fins. And in the area of just scale there attached under the scales making that scale turn blood red. Both of them are staying in one spot together not eating or moving. the worms are split at the ends. What should I do?

I swear that I have read this information somewhere before, but for the life of me, I haven't been able to conduct a productive web search so as to locate that information again. Does anyone either remember a link or have some personal information about recycling aquarium water for plants? If I am remembering correctly, the low levels of NH4 in the aquarium water provide plants with a easy routine liquid fertilizer, and besides...if I can use the water for something beneficial, why would I want to waste it, by flushing it down the toilet?

Ive been told gourami's are not good community fish but I have my pink kissing gourami in the tank with danios and he doesnt bother them. I was just wondering if my gourami likes to be alone or would like the company of more gourami's.
