I need some help, fast! I did a recent nitrate/nitrite test after a lot of work on my fish tank, and my tests have been running up a high level of nitrite. (Somewhere between 0.5 - 1.5 ppm) Which is really stressing me out!! I just did a partial water change (~30%) yesterday, but today, I still have that same value for the nitrite! How should I lower it?? I've just done a 90% water change about a week ago too, so I really don't know how much a water change might help...

I did purchase live bacteria (bottled) a short time ago, because our bio-filter is a month or so new, and I think my nitrite levels are because of the new filter. So I've bought the bacteria, and I've added doses twice now, the last dose just on Sunday.

I'm wondering, with these high levels of nitrite, should I add some more bacteria? Is there any risk to possibly adding TOO much bacteria?? What are other possible solutions??
Please respond soon! Thanks!

It was a little like a mini sting ray, with a circular sucking bit, and a little tail at the back. The disc shaped bit was the bit that sucked. The aquatics person told me it was a suckerfish, and he said a name beginning with B, then suckerfish. Please tell me what it is!

I have heard that if you keep your tank at a constant 80 degrees then Ich can't survive in the tank. Is this true? Are there any ways you can help prevent fish from getting it?

i have a Pearl scale Goldfish and he likes small gaps, and he managed to wedge himself inbetween the filter and the side of the tank, upsidedown!! so as soon as i saw him i moved the filter and he swam off, i could see where he had got himself stuck he had taken off alot of his scales, and damaged the front of his fin. But despite that he seemed fine and swam away as nothing had happened, this was a week ago. over the last few days he looks as thought he is developing fish-rot, his top fin is flaking away and he is hanging around at the top of the tank hardly moving, but still alive. i feel so helpless and guilty like i could have done something to prevent this. i can't stand watching him die, im even considering flushing down the toilet.help?!

I have several male betas in different water bowls.. I just cleaned out all of there bowls and want to know if it is okay to sit them in the sun outside (in their water bowls of course)? I put netting on top of all of the bowls so nothing can get in there. I've heard that the sun makes them more active and enhances their color..
Thanks in advance.

Okay so I bought some new guppies today (3 total- 2 males, 1 female). I added 2 tablespoons of the aquarium salt like it said on the package into my 10 gallon tank but as I was reading online I found that only 1 tablespoon was needed to take care of the guppies. Will they be okay? Also the female is pregnant. How long does it usually take for them to give birth. Also is it a live birth or is it egg? Just curious.... THANKS!!!

I have a fancy guppy that has been sitting on the bottom of the tank and breathing quickly for about a month. I recently added two guppies to the tank, thinking it was a community issue, but it hasn't gotten better. The levels are fine, I do regular water changes, but the water seems a little cloudy. The other two guppies are doing fine so far. Any suggestions?

From what I understand, my fish is so agressive (undulated trigger) that it will try to kill / eat anything that moves. So is there a way for me to control the algae without having to scrub it out myself?

Or is there any kind of algae eater that will be able to put up with the trigger?
