An aquarium nitrites are supposed to remain 0 after establishment of nitrifying bacteria. I checked mine today, it was a little under 0.25 ppm

I've read thats a bad sign caused by something like overfeeding (I don't think I've fed them too much, then again), overstocked tank (I only have 8 serpae) or an inaduequet bio-fliter. If I have a bad bio-filter, I've heard Stress Zyme and aqua salt help a little in lowering nitrites and restoring the bio-filter.

I am interested in a 30 gallon octagon aquarium that is going to be at an auction next weekend. I haven't seen it but I assume it's a tower type. Does anyone have one of these? I was just wondering what your experiences were with them and also, what type of fish do you have in it? I assume if it is a tower, the fish I would get would have to be ones that wouldn't get too big. Also, assuming it comes with all the needed supplies and equipment, what would a new one cost? I've looked online for one but never found a 30 gallon that was a tower type. I was just curious about how much I should bid.

I found them earlier hding in a plant, two are currently hidden in the corner. The other two are nowhere to be seen. Not behind any ornaments, where have they gone? Should I put a few flaked of food in to tempt them up? I just want to make sure they are okay. Thanks x

my fish keep twitching...It's like they are swimming in one spot (but they can swim) very slowly, I thought it might have been shock because I change my tank water 2 weeks ago but they are still doing it, they are also starting to bite at eachother which is weird because they been in the same tank for about a year, My angelfish seems really mad and jumpping at the glass which she has never done before and my black neon tetra are colour loss every couple of days but they get it back, my PH seems fine & temp....does anyone know whats happening?? lol PLEASE!

In my 20 gallon saltwater tank i have 2 baby puffers and i feed them krill. the problems with the puffers is they are messy eaters and the food waste goes to the bottom and stays there. are there any fish i should get so they could clean up after the puffers in the bottom of my tank?

I have 3 females and 2 males. 2 of the females were pretty spunky when I first got them but now they aren't begging for food with the rest of them when I feed them. They stay at the bottom and pick at the gravel where the food floats down instead. I'm worried that they won't get enough food to eat this way. Also the two males constantly pester the females, especially during feeding time and I'm afraid they aren't letting them eat. Is it normal for them to constantly harrass the females like this? They seem to prefer the 2 females that aren't eating much for some reason, could the harrassment be why they aren't responding when I put food in the tank? None of the females are responding to their wooing and run from them every time..

I have 2 filters on my 15 gallon tank. An old 90GPH and a new120 GPH. I have them both running - is it too much current for my fish i have tetras and a betta. Also the new filter is loud is there any harm in switching the 120GPH filter off at night and just have the other running. Also could I alternate the 120 running in day and 90 at night?? I know alot of questions hehehe thanks for the help.

I have a 75 gal. I have done my tank changes and my levels for everything are great. It has been up and running a few months. It is a community tank and now all my fish are breathing heavy and slow. Not at the top of the tank. and they are now starting to die. I see no signs of gill parasites. I may be missing them though, but i dont think so. Any help would be awsome.

I bought her yesterday and got the betta bites fish food which are small brown pebbles. She has trouble eating them hole. She will swallow them and then spit them back out. I started crushing them for her, but that doesn't seem to be helping either. What can I do until I get to the pet store tomorrow?

It is alarming how many people believe you can keep a comet gold fish in a 1 gallon bowl without filtration. It's alarming how many people think bettas LIKE to be kept in a pint or quart of water in a vase.
Stores sell Plecos, Oscars even Pacu's knowing they are cute babies, but no way is ANYONE prepared for a moster like these fish!
Yet the still sell them. To me, it is a case of animal cruelty. I think I will be writing my state assembly woman, state senator, congressman, and senators about laws protecting the welfare of tropical fish the end up being released into the local ecosystem where they create havoc and live lives full of suffering.
How can we stop this cruelty?
