He might just be getting used to his new home. Also, in the little cups they have them in at most stores, they never get a chance to swim much, and the have to drag the long fins around. Your filter may be making too much current for him to swim easily. Try turning it down a little if there's an adjustment on the top of the uptake tube.

Some fish will nip the fins of bettas, so you should watch to be sure no fish are bullying "the new guy".

Other than that, I'd just give him some time to feel at home!

Fear not just yet, your betta is just adjusting to his new home. Almost all of them are lethargic after coming home with you, they get stressed from the ride, stressed from being moved from the jar to a tank and stressed from the new tanks unfamilar surroundings.

Wait a few days and he should perk up and start exploring the tank and claiming his territory.

One mine claimed the intake for the filter and chases the Harlequins away from it. I suppose this is a godo thing since a harlequin could in theory get stuck on the filter and die.

probably just in shock from the move, give him time and keep the temp at what it should be (if you don't know then ask the pet store what temp their tank was set at)

betas are delicate fish when it comes to moving and water changes first check you ammonia and Ph. if those are fine he might be hiding from your fish if they are fin nippers(like tetras or barbs) but betas are territorial so your other fish will have already established their territories try a change or scenery so all you fish will need to find a new territory.

u've stressed him out too much. u should've never put them side to side with each other and never in the same tank unless u have a divider. move it to the other side of the room and change the water too. u could just buy another one. they only cost like 5 bucks
