I found them earlier hding in a plant, two are currently hidden in the corner. The other two are nowhere to be seen. Not behind any ornaments, where have they gone? Should I put a few flaked of food in to tempt them up? I just want to make sure they are okay. Thanks x

And no, they were all the same size so I don't know. I've put two flakes of food in to tempt them but I'm still waiting for an appearance.

They're the only fish in there, but the tank and filter have already matured.

new tank they are probably just scared, and fish are experts at hiding, especially small fish like danios (I have a few as well), I wouldn't worry about it just yet; check the filter and then if there aren't any in there let it be they will come out at there regular feeding time, however if you don't see them in the next 24 hours including feeding time, then I would scour the tank because sick fish or fish in shock may have died under something and not be able to float to the top, I'm sorry for that but don't worry yet they are probably just scared and hiding for now, and they will come out on their own time

Only thing I'd add to the comments here are that danios are very active. In a new environment (particularly if they're stressed) they'll either hide, or run - and this includes jumping out of the tank. They're tough fish, so if you notice any gill movement at all after a jump, put them back in the water. Better yet, keep the tank covered as best you can.
I had a few danios that thought they were salmon - they were always swimming upstream and jumping into the filter! No matter how many times I put them back in the tank, that's where I'd find them after a few days.
If you've got a light on over the tank, turn it off for the day - dim lighting will calm them also.

Well first of all what type of other fish do you have in the tank? Zebra Danios are a very peaceful schooling fish. If any of your other fish are aggresive then the Danios just need some time to adjust to the new environment. Did you acclimate the Danios prior to placing them in the tank? By this I mean did you place the bag in the water and leave it for 20 minutes? If not that may be one reason that they hid. You should never just drop them in. That would stress them out majorly as you are literaly throwing them into another environment in which territories have already been established. I would not go digging around in your tank trying to locate them as this will stress them out even more. Also flake will not do the job as fish tend to not eat when they are stressed due to territorial threats if you will. My recomendation is to keep a close eye for a day or two and they will come out once you quit digging threw the tank. If they do not come out then they may have died for various reasons. At this point you will have to locate and remove them as the decaying fish will pollute your tank and adversly affect the water parameters. I have a tip that may or may not be useful to you. Some people choose to rearrange there tanks before adding new inhabitants. All your fish will be busy establishing new territories that they wont pay much attention to the new fish. It is almost as though they think they are in a new tank. Good Luck to you......laceyemerill

Fish sometimes get tired of being in a tank and leave. That's what happened to a pair of goldfish I used to have. One day they were gone, I looked and looked for them and found them living in Cancun Mexico, running a boat for tourist to whale watch in the summer.
They'd made a good life for themselves there, so I let them stay. I get postcards from them sometimes.

not good.....you might want to check the filter if it seems like a possibility for them to get sucked up, you might have the wrong mix of fish which would result in being eatten :(....If your fish are swimming really crazy like... they were eatten
(thats what mine did)
sorry for your fishloss :(

Either they are hiding somewhere or they have been eaten.
