All anemones have the capability to sting. It's just that some sea anemone stings hurt, and some don't. It all depends on if their stinging cells (nematocysts) are strong enough to pierce our skin. I know of one sea anemone, the sunburst anemone (or Anthopleura sola) that doesn't hurt when you touch it, but it feels sticky. What you're feeling is the nematocysts firing and sticking onto your skin. So technically it IS stinging you, but you don't feel pain.

Pris gave a pretty good answer. Most will sting, but you may not feel this from many of them if it's a calloused area of your hand. Some of the carpet anemones you'll notice, especially if they get you on the arm - this can feel more like a wasp sting. Some people are allergic to the nematocysts and might have a bad reaction, possibly even death. That's only one of many reasons you should use long-sleeved aquarium gloves when working in a marine tank.
