If you start feeding them VERY fine food 3-4 times a day, and do partial water changes every other day, MOST of them will NOT die. A good first food is SeraMicron. Your fish store will have fry food that will do just as well. Remember, multiple feedings of high protein food for the first three weeks and frequent partial water changes.

You can usually start them on frozen baby brine shrimp after about a week to ten days.

I have personally raised spawns numbering in the hundreds where only 10% do not make it. Some of my friends, who keep the larger South American cichlids, raise and sell spawns of 2,000-3,000 with very little loss of life.

It is all in how you take care of them. If you allow the parents to take care of them, you will lose more than if you take them away and do it yourself. Most cichlids will take care of their eggs and fry (babies) until they are swimming and eating on their own. Some will even take care of them until the next batch of eggs is laid.

Email me if you have more concerns, I will be glad to help.

Bull to all that say that most will die, if you go to your pet shop ask them for fry food, and feed them three times a day, keep their temp correct and don't fiddle too much with them, and with the aid of this food they will get big strong and healthy

Gary is right, most will die, but that's normal. I suggest feeding them newly hatched brine shrimp for the first week or so and then start feeding frozen brine and work your way from live food, to frozen, to freeze dried to flake.

Feeding often and very clean water from generous water changes are the best things you can do to help them along.

First off id like to say, i hope you know most of the babies will die. To feed them give them crushed blood worms or pellets. Also it is wise to give them super small brine shrimp that you can buy from the store or grow at home
