Fish food smells like fish because it is mostly made of fish, unless you buy algae flakes or discs that tend to not smell quite so fishy. Check out the link below and read the ingredients. "Delicious recipe of fresh, cold water seafood.." "This comes in the form of fresh marine fat, and lots of it." "An extremely palatable mix of seafood ingredients." Fish meat has omega 6 adn 3 fatty acids and very high protein, which is what most fish need to be truly brilliant and healthy in an aquarium.

Because fish food comes from things that grow underwater, and since they are in such close contact with fish, they adopt that smell. Fish smell is impossible to get out of things!

Why would you think that is ironic. What, exactly, do you think that fish eat? For the most part they eat smaller fish! Others, of course, eat marine plants, which also smell fishy.

because in the wild, fish often end up eating other fish that have died - so fish food is fish. explains why it smells like fish.
