Per gallon of water, these tanks have less swimming space, less room for territories, and less surface area for oxygen exchange.

There is nothing wrong with them, but it means you can't stock as many, or as large, of fish as you would in a normal sized tank. The pressure of the water is not a concern.

It should be safe considering people make hexagon shape tanks. The only thing to worry about when you talk about pressure is the framing and the thickness of the glass (or plexiglass). The drawback to having these type of tanks rather than the standard rectangle tank is that there is little floor area. So a big size of fish would not have a certain amount of swimming space as compared to a standard tank that has the same gallon equivalence.

They will not fall apart. The physics are fine to keep them together. They tend not to get very big though. Most I see are 30 gallons and under.

They SUCK for the fish though. The only fish that like a tall skinny aquarium like that are angel fish & puffers. All other fish will not like it and will not thrive well in it.

Fish should have a rectangular tank to be happy. They swim side to side & need space.

A 20 gallon hexagon aquarium is not the same swimming space as a 20 gallon regular aquarium. Its not good.

yes, such aquaria are standard items in the catalogues, on line or at your local store. (They are more expensive than rectangular ones though). New Silicone sealants make it possible to build aquaria in all sorts of interesting shapes.
