Now, I'm not absolutely positive that my fish is pregnant, the lady that helped us at pet smart said she was a female and though she was pregnant, her stomach seems like its bloated and looks to be much bigger then the rest of her body. We transfered her into a smaller 1 gallon tank that we have, will that help, or after she has the babies, should we take her back out of the smaller tank and put her back in with the rest of our fish? And how big or long should we let the smaller baby fish stay in th tank by themselves before moving them?

i have an oscar and i am currently teaching him to be petted. Today he let me pethim for a split second. he also can be hand fed, play tug-of-war, and flip over a small floating lilly pad. I thought it would be fun to find out what other tricks other people have tought their fish.

I was at the pet store today and noticed a Betta fish on display in a small (2 gallon... I think) tank with a filter running. I didn't think Bettas were supposed to live that way. Is it okay? If so, I may think about buying my Betta a new home.

I have searched the web and can't find anything that looks like him. I don't know how to post a link for a picture, so I will describe him as best as I can. He is about 5 1/2 inches long. Body color ranges from charcol gray to light gray with hint of blue green showing through. He has raised spots all over that are red and white or orange and white. And his claws are red, (not a red streak, just red all over the claws). Sounds complicated, but he is very colorful. The guy at the fish store that sold him to us said he was very impressed with his coloring and size, but failed to mention his type. The only thing we were told was that they usually sell ones like this for a lot more money than we paid. I need to know so I can figure out how big he might get. From the pictures I saw, he looks like a red claw crayfish, except no defined red stripe. If he is a red-claw, then do I need to buy a bigger tank? (he's in a 20 gal right now)
Thanks to anyone that can help!

his other tank mates do not seem to be suffering from the same problem.. is this due to his age? or is this an illness? and if so, any cures/remedies/suggestions?

There is a fairly large pond behind my house, comparable to a lake. It is about 10 -20 feet deep in the deepest places. There are currently no living creatures other than turtles and snakes. How can I get some fish in here or any type of aquatic creature? I know you can buy those mini shrimp that hatch when you mix them with water, but can you buy them in huge quantities? Are there any types of fish I can purchase online?

What are the chances of a fairly big fish tank popping?! I would like to get a fish tank but I keep getting warned it will pop and destroy my bedroom floor and the downstairs ceiling? Is this true?

Could you share your experiences with these fish? I just bought a juvenile pair (4 or 5 inches) & they're very charming. I understand that they're supposed to lose all of their orange flourescent coloration when they get to about 8 inches, which is a bummer, but that's about all I know. That & the head first eating habbit.

I haven't quite figured out what a good sustainable food source is for them. They love to eat goldfish, but i'm not going to feed them feeders every day. I bought frozen blood worms & they nipped at them, but didn't seem anywhere as interested in them as the green terror & angelicus loaches they're in with. I understand they're supposed to have a huge meat hungry appetite like an oscar. I'm going to try freeze dried krill as my next food offering tonight.

They seem to stick to the substrate & enjoy hiding below my Bolbitis heudelotii fern leaves away from the light most of the time. They pal around pretty cute.

I have posted a "blog" on http://www.fish-forums.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=2542 It has a picture of the fish I have mentioned in another question I have asked. I now know that they aren't bettas but I'm not sure what they are now! Also if you have an answer to the question I asked on the blog feel free to post it here or there! Thanks in advance!!!

I am establishing a new freshwater community in a 10 gallon tank. So far i have 2 small fancies and one medium Oranda. They will all live in my 10 gal once it has cycled. I was wondering about adding a very small freshwater crab in about a month. Will my species of fish get along with the crab? And what is the proper feeding strategy when you have fishes and crustaceans living together?

I would really like to set up a marine aquarium (have had tropical in the past) as the fish are gorgeous and you can have live rock. I'm not going to rush into things and i have read book after book on the subject but they all say how extemely difficult it is and that you shouldn't use live rock if not experienced. This tends to put me off lots! Is it a difficult as they say (i.e. alot more difficult than a tropical tank) and does anyone have any good advice? thanks.

Ok I want to start selling osme fish stuff. Like I was thinking tank decorator starter kits with like gravel, caves(homemade), driftwood when availible, and plants(plastic or real, buyers choice)
How much should this cost me to start up?
The supplys I would need would be
The plants
The gravel(a huge bag form home depot)
pvc pipes and pots(for the caves)

And how much should I charge, I would do kits for liek a 2.5 gallon, a 5 gallon, and a ten gallon
