I'm building a 240+ gallon tank, and i was wondering if i could use a pond filter instead of a normal filter since this size is so big. the laddie at pet smart said that i could use a pond filter for my tank, but i need one with bio-balls in it. but this website here is a UV + bio pond filter. would this be a good filter or what other filters are good? the gph is 1,000

I have 3 goldfish, and one of them is sinking to the bottom of the bowl.... the other 2 are swimming around... is my fish dead or sleeping? i thought if i shooke the bowl around it would wake up, but it didnt move...does that mean its dead, or does my fish SLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP... lol

in other words, should I flush her down already, or wait until morning?

THANKS!

in sept of 2005 i won this goldfish at a fair for my four year old daughter,i assumed it would die asap but lo and behold he lives on.i have him in a big tank with a filter(like five gallon i guess)and though i do take care of him,i feed him regularly and change his filters sometimes his tank does get dirty looking.even after filter change.(i have 2 kids ,2 cats and a husband!)anyway i was preparing to scrub out his tank and noticed his eye was missing!!im grossed out and upset as he is now part of the familia..what causes this.he is acting normal swimming and stuff...help!

I have just started a tank and have all male guppies about 6 in a ten gallon tank. I add 3 a week after the tank was set up and 3 another week later and now the new ones have all died within days. I was given three more and now 3 have died and 1 is left. Tank levels are all fine and it only seems to be new fish that I add to the tank are effected.

I’ve just bought the bulldog discus home a few days ago.
I don't know what's wrong with my bulldog discus; he seems to be bumping into things when he’s swimming. It looks as though he can’t see what’s in front of him.

Do you know what’s wrong with my discus? What can I do help him?

I haven`t set up my tank yet, saltwater tanks are so expensive from what I have checked into, the more I can find out about it before I do,maybe I won`t make so many mistakes, there is so much to learn!

This small creature seems more like a single-cell organism. It can propel itself by either moving like a snail, or like an inchworm. It has a long, thin snout, and when traveling downwards looks like a cobra. It is semi-translucent. The aquarium lives iin a one gallon plastic type that is used as a "snail jail" and usually ignored. Photo at:

I have done a water change and changed all the filters but I was wondering if someone knows of a good chemical or something else I can do that might get rid of it quicker. There are also plecos already in the tank

i went on vacation and had someone watching my tank but when my timer broke for the lights they didn't shut it off so the light was on in the tank for 2 days and made the algae grow. Great huh??

Hi, I bought 6 Neon Tetras. When I got home with them I saw there were 7 fish in the bag and the 7th fish was a lot different than the Neon's I bought. I think it's some kind of Tetra, but I don't know what kind. It might be in the high-fin family. Do you know? Click on this to see pic I took. And yes, it is orange in color but my camera kinda changed it a little.

My betta fish had this bubble looking thing on his fin at the very end. I kept saying his tail because it is what floats behind him. I got something and busted it but the fish is still acting funny. I am not sure what to do with it.

I have 55 gal tank and a 10 gal tank. I have an Oscar in the 55 gal. I was looking into breeding guppies for a nice snack for him. I heard you can get that Easter grass, about 4 or 5 guppies (males and females) add water and of course the tank accessories like a filter and such..and you're good to go. Is this true? If so..which guppies are the coolest/prettiest to have and to breed?

Ok so i just found out my cat Duchess has tape worms (we will be taking care of that before spreads to toher cat and two dogs). Today i found her drinking out of my betas tank water. Is it possible for the fish to get worms or something and die because the fish is so cool looking its white, and its actually outlined in blue ive never seen one like that. Should i change the water right away??
