No problem at all most of the time. Females bettas are generally very peaceful but just like people some of them just can't play nice with others so sometimes it presents a problem, but that's rare.

Females are fine kept together. Males however should not be kept together and will fight. You can have 1 male to 3 or females but like said the females will need hiding places as the male can chase them and become agressive when breeding. If you have a tank set like this then watch what other tank mates are in there as the male betta may not be happy with other fish being near the female bettas.

Yes -- and no. Female bettas are a bit nippy and will develop a social hierarchy. As long as all the females are added at one time, they will usually be okay with each other. You may occassionally get one that will not behave herself and have to be separated from the others.

It's a good idea to have them in a planted tank and not too crowded - this way if one is getting picked on by the others, it has a place where it can retreat.

Once you have the tank established, be careful if you try to add more females - a single will be and outcast and attacked by the others. It would be better to add a small group to spread out any aggression. Still, they will be picked on by the others. You may get things to setttle down and have them act peacefully again, but there will be lots of biting and torn fins in the process!

Female bettas are peaceful and several would do fine in a 10 gallon tank. If you put a male in with them provide plenty of cover because he will drive them.

I currently have two females in my 10 gallon tank. I will be getting two more.

I did notice that when buying a new female it is best to purchase a younger female.

Possibly. As long as there are plenty of hiding places. I would get 3 to 5 of them, if you only get two, one will usually bully the other, and if you get more than 4 or 5, things may get a bit crowded.

But be prepared to give them all separate homes if they don't get along.
