I just got a female guppy yesterday from the pet store, I think it is pregnant. She has that gravid spot. The problem is that she is barely moving at all. Is this a sign she is going to give birth soon or is she sick.

Has anyone ever heard of these? I got a couple pairs a few years ago but they died shortly after that. Now the pet store that I got them from doesn't carry them anymore, and no other place seems to. Is this just a rare type of guppy?

all 4 of my plants are in pots....black plastic pots with what looks like moss packed in with them.

Should i take them out so they can root.

2 are Crinum's and the other 2 may or may not even be aquarium plants...the look like small elephant ear plants or arrowheads.

nothing special, just a 10 gallon fresh water tank, with about 7 tetras and a small castle decoration. It seems like every week im dumping another 1-2 gallons in my tank just to keep the level even. I realize that water's gonna evaportate no matter what, but this seems like a lot in such a short amount of time.

my room stays at a temp of about 68-73, and there's a little heater in the tank that keeps the water at about 70. if there's anything i can do to slow this process, any help would be appreciated.

I'd like to build a moss wall for my corner tank. All the fancy mosses I see online are like $30 for only a couple inches. Are there any mosses native to PA (pittsburgh area) for free picking that could be used in a freshwater aquarium?

Do you have an opinion about moss walls / favorite materials / favorite species to use - good location to buy them?

Hi, I have a silver molly that I added to my aquarium yesterday (125litre tank with 4 sunset platys, 3 oto's, 4 amano shrimp and 2 silver mollys) and I have noticed today that when she isnt actively swimming, she floats with her nose pointed in the air. She doesnt appear to be stressed and appears to be healthy. Its just this vertical floating thats odd!

Many thanks for your help!

My dwarf gourami is starting to build a bubble nest in my main aquarium !

So my question2 to you are :

1. Is this ok to go on in the main tank ?
2. Does this mean it must be going to have babies with one of my other dwarf gouramis, or do they build nests even if they dont have a mate.

I am purchasing 12 RBP and I would like to mark them each somehow to track their progress in growth and health. I am looking for a cheap but effective way to mark them that they will not outgrow. I have been told that piercing their fin will not cause much damage or pain to the fish and it will retain the marker for a long time. What should I use to mark them each with?
Thanks!!

im not sure what kind of plant they are. The look like an elephant ear plant....the 2 i have have white leaves...some are red. These are about 4" tall.

They have been in the tank for about 2 weeks. I also have 2 other plants (crinum) they are tall with long grass looking leaves. These seem to be doing good...one of them i can already tell has grown....its touching the top of the tank already.

Why would the other plants "sag" ??
What could cause this?

Ive read alot about Bettas on here and am shocked at how many ignorant answers there are. When people are asking about them there told bettas have to be alone as they fight and kill all other fish!! What utter rubbish and a little research on the fish goes along way. I Have a male betta who shares a tank with 2 mollies, 4 penguin tetras, guppies and cory pandas. He is a happy fish and hasnt even attempted to attack the other tank mates. Infact he loves sharing food with others at times.

Males are only agressive towards other male bettas, ok sometimes it can be a personality thing as in any other tyrpe of living thing and you may get a grumpy bully lol, but in general they are good community fish. You type these fish into search engine and read all you can, you will read the same. Also mine isnt a NON active fish. There is a very slight current in the water but he loves swimming about and is a healthy happy fish.

Please research and be considerate in answers.

2 days ago, I put some Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Leaf Zone into my 2.5 gallon tank. Since my tank is so small, I basically ended up putting the equivalent of a couple of drops. I think my tank is extremely deficient in nutrients since the leaves are turning white/light green. Should I put in more fertilizer? I don't want to put in too much because I don't want an algae disaster. I have plenty of light, 12watts worth of a flourescent light. So anyone have any idea how long it'd take for a plant fertilizer to take any effect? I have Giant Hydro and it's suppose to be super fast growing but mine doesn't seem to be growing very fast. It's not dying but it's not really thriving either.

i am very new to tropical fish, my father has given me a tank, i bought the essentials and set it up ready, my dad gave me 5 fighters out of his tank, 3 babies and 2 medium sized ones which he says were both male, now i have discovered that 1 of them must be female as she is carrying eggs and the male is getting a nest ready, as far as the smaller ones are concerned i dont know what sex they are! everything is going fine in the tank and none of them are fighting but i was just wondering as a newbie what i should do now? i hear the father eats the fish when fertilized and dont want that to happen, someone please give me an idea of what to do, thanks
