Has anyone ever heard of these? I got a couple pairs a few years ago but they died shortly after that. Now the pet store that I got them from doesn't carry them anymore, and no other place seems to. Is this just a rare type of guppy?

For guppies Moscow means it has dark metallic blue on it's head. Purple was the tail and lower body color. Its not really a seperate breed exactly, just a color variation. Those are available around from a few breeders. You might try aquabid.com or the International Fancy Guppy Association. No doubt you can find them around somewhere.

Good luck!

Other folks here have addressed where you can get them. If you should decide to get more, try keeping them with a little salt in their water. Just be careful not to use iodized salt (most table salt) - kosher, pickling, canning, or aquarium salt is fine - at around 1 Tbsp/5 gallons to 1 tsp. gallon. Many breeders and fish stores keep all their livebearers at this level. If the fish are shipped from overseas, they may be kept at an even higher salt concentration during shipping.

I wasn't aware of this when I first started keeping them, and always seems to lose a good number within the first week. I discovered salt when looking for info on breeding - one breeder's site mentioned this, so I tried it - I haven't lost fish since.

Guppies can take very high salt concentrations. I'm currently acclimating a trio of turquoise guppies to marine strength salt - I'm adding them to a nano tank I'm starting.

Its just a different coloring of guppies.
Guppies don't have breeds.
