You can buy one or have it custom built. It will most likely be made of acrylic because glass would be to pricey. The glass for that tank would be a few inches think. A 300-400 gallon tank is 3-4 thousand pounds of water pressure. You would really have to know all the implications of building a tank this size.

It would probably be about the same price to make one as it would be to buy one, and a heck of a lot easier.

Glass panels are quite pricey and for a tank that size you need thick reinforced glass. To get enough of this glass, and then to calk it together and have it hold, it would just be better to buy a tank. Plus then you have a warranty on it if it starts to leak.

it is safer to buy one and make your own stand (make sure it can handle the weight which is about 8 lbs a gallon) and make your own large filter.
There are plenty of forums and websites out there for this info.

I also doubt it is cheaper to make one until you get above the 500 gallon mark and even then you really really want to make sure you know what you are doing.

It would be wiser to purchase the aquarium, rather than attempt to make one yourself. The work involved would be time consuming and not easy. Also, a large tank like that would have to be constructed carefully in order to be sure it would not give out under the stress of so much water. I would not try to make a tank that large yourself.

By the time you get everything cut, sanded, glued, wired, etc., it would probably be cheaper to buy one. On the other hand, you can have more pride in a custom built tank.

A 250 gallon oil tank would do the job.

If you're handy with stuff like that it would probably be cheaper to make one, but it would be safer to buy it, I suspect... you'd hate for it to leak.

Try Craig's list to see if someone is selling one at a good price.

Cheaper and better to buy one in that size by far.

I believe it would be cheaper to buy one considering the time and effort you would have in designing one for your needs.
