I have searched the web and can't find anything that looks like him. I don't know how to post a link for a picture, so I will describe him as best as I can. He is about 5 1/2 inches long. Body color ranges from charcol gray to light gray with hint of blue green showing through. He has raised spots all over that are red and white or orange and white. And his claws are red, (not a red streak, just red all over the claws). Sounds complicated, but he is very colorful. The guy at the fish store that sold him to us said he was very impressed with his coloring and size, but failed to mention his type. The only thing we were told was that they usually sell ones like this for a lot more money than we paid. I need to know so I can figure out how big he might get. From the pictures I saw, he looks like a red claw crayfish, except no defined red stripe. If he is a red-claw, then do I need to buy a bigger tank? (he's in a 20 gal right now)
Thanks to anyone that can help!

I know that there are many different types, but I was hoping someone would know some kinds that look similiar to mine so I could point my search in the right direction. I thought this might be possible since he has very distint markings that look different from most I have found online.
There doesn't seem to be much info about pet crayfish or pet lobsters.

To be totally honest you will most likely never know unless you can find a biologist in your area the specializes in freshwater crustaceans. There are literally thousands of species of crayfish in the US alone and for many the only way to tell for sure the species is to count the swimmerettes under the tail. That aside, most don't exceed 7-8" long and most all have the same keeping requirements. Worst case senario has him in a 30 gallon or so really.
