Hi. I tend to find Bettas take longer to settle in than any other fish Ive known. My recently added Betta didnt eat for the 1st 4 or 5 days. He then decided to nibble here and there, oh he wont touch bloodworms for some reason, however he does love dahinia which I buy frozen. I dont think Bettas have as big a appetite as most fish but that can depend on the indevidual fish. My Betta doesnt eat much at all, see him nibbling here and there and sharing some food with a mollie or guppie. Also they say bettas are real lazy and like to float around etc.. My male betta is very very actice constantly and loves swimming about, mainly at front of tank where he can see us lol.

Bettas are carnivores that eat insects, they can not live on plants. They may nibble them when they are starving or bored but plants are not an appropriate diet for bettas, no matter what the betta-in-a-vase people tell you. You should feed more than once a week, you should feed them every day or at least 6 days a week, this is not overfeeding unless you give them too much food in each serve.

I'd go with the blood worms, they also like things like mosquito larvae and daphnia (water fleas). If he has only recently stopped eating, a few days without food isn't the end of the world, but I bet he will eat like a pig if you give him bloodworms. :)

Once he is eating, try and get him back on the pellets, a 100% bloodworm diet may not be the best thing for him, I alternate between bloodworms, mosquito larvae and tropical fish food to give mine some variety.

hes a new betta? here is a trick you can try to get him to eat your pellets -- when you put it in push it down in the water really fast about 1/2 an inch with your finger. it should get his attention and after a couple tries he might go for it. bettas in nature eat live food so if you make it look like the pellet is alive and swimming around it will get his attention and he might eat it. in few days they are used to them being food and eat them no problem.

i feed mine frozen bloodworms two days a week and they will always eat those. just get some tweezers and hold one by his head and wiggle it a little and he will be eating in no time.

Only feed him once a week. People Overfeed thinking the Betta is hungry. He/she isn't. You might want to get a water plant ( lillies are nice) the fish produces waste for the plant and the plant in turn gives it food. This way you don't have to worry about overfeeding him/her. Just don't forget to keep him clean!

I'm not sure. I think you should consult a vet-family-your heart-and it's actions. I really think you should do something appropriate. Don't do anything crazy.
