right now i have a 55 gallon with 1 peacock eel, 3 angelfish, an upsie down cat, a striped raphael, 1 female guppy(the male just dissapeared),a pleco, a bunch of ghost shrimp that they all just eat, and a small crab. can i put cichlids in there? i want something that only gets to about 3-5" but is very bright and good looking

I have a 30 gallon tank with 3 small oscars, a green terror and 2 convicts. I know already that after a while the size will be inadequite but my question is has anyone ever tried any of these combo's as tank mates. The seem to be doing fine but i dont want to loose any of them.

I've read of people fearing the spread of disease through tubifex and bloodworms in aquariums. I recently purchased tubifex from petsmart freeze dried. Is it safe? Was that fear only in the 70's or from people in less industrialized societies?

I am going to purchase 2 discus for my 20 gallon aquarium what will happen if I don't adjust the ph down to 6.5-7. I use water conditioner but the tap water ph is 8.6.

What is the best way to keep the gravel clean, last time I added fine beach sand in my cichlid tank 6 months ago but it became so dirty and black that I had to removed it and add new gravel. So is there any filteration system or any process to keep the gravel clean and free from accumulated dirt of fishes.

My snails in the large 55 gallon have perished. I was vacuuming it today and noticed the shells are all empty. All three of them. The fish are all fine, the catfish are fine, the tank tested fine, yet they are all dead, but the snails in all the small tanks, bought hte same time, are fine. Any ideas what did my little babies in?

I have had fish for years both salt and fresh. I have a male and female in my salt tank and I was watching the birthing (Mind you I have noticed she was pregie since early Januray and I was begining to worry she was so large I thought she was going to expload) Any way she is still giving birth....22 babbies and she is still going Is this normal? Maybe I should start raising black mollies. I cannot find anywhere on the net the MAXIMUM amout they have. The most I have seen is 11. Any breeders out there interested in a very fertal fish! LOL

I think i have parasites...my oscars are flaking away and i see the little white worm like creatures swimming around. this is an ongoing issue and i have bought the copper whatever stuff that is supposed to last a full month, but i am still waiting for it to work!! I have moved the fish from one 55 gal to the next and I know i have to now treat both tanks, but i couldn't stand to let them stay in the worm riddled tank! Oh and one more thing is that i think these worms are turning into these annoying gnats that i have been seeing around the house the past few days!! HELP how do i get rid of them once and for all??!!

I guess they both had neon tetra disease. I had three. Thoes two lost color and swam slowly and died. The last one is bright still with no color loss. Will he get it soon? I am tired of geting rid of fish week after week... after week!

I have a betta fish and there is a plant on top. I'm not exactly sure what kind of plant it is, but I bought it at a pet store, and one of the employees helped me get it, so I know its okay for the fish. I just got the fish and plant tonight, and the plant was healthy when I got it. It started to look dried out over an hour or so of having it, and now it is very ugly, shriveled (if thats a word) up. I'm using bottoled water in the vase, and the bottom of the plant is in the water. Is there anything I'm doing wrong? If I did something wrong to the plant, and its dying, could it affect the fish and kill it?
Please help!
