depends on the fish. What kind are you asking about?

in the most part you will not notice them in a tank, unless it is a specific breeding tank.
other fish will eat them if they come across them, most are very small and almost see through.
most commonly kept tropical fish will scatter the eggs rather than 'lay' them in a clump then forget them.
angels will find a smooth surface and lay all the eggs together, then gently swim over them fanning them.
other fish will find a cave or hollow, some are mouth brooders, first time you know there were any eggs at all is when you see the young.
