reactions???Uh, ok, I'll just let you know what mine does... lol

I have a male betta who is extremely smart, and has an amazing personality, for a fish!! He knows it's feeding time when I tap at the top of the tank plastic. He will puff out when my hubby looks at him, and not me or the kids. He loves his mirror I give him for a couple hours a day, and will even hide from it, if I leave it there too long. He will follow a finger, or pencil eraser when I touch the tank. (Some bettas can be trained like that!) He can see, I say, about 3, maybe 4 foot from OUTSIDE the tank. I can stand that far away, and then walk to the other side of the tank, about the same distance from him, and he follows me! He also turns colors. He goes pale at night, when the tank cools down (no cooler than 72!) or when he's stressed, like when I do water changes.
What else...? Uh, my betta won't touch flake food. I've got several kinds of bites for him, and he doesn't care what I give him, as long as it's at the surface when I tap. He'd eat nonstop if I let him.
Oh, he hides from his pet cat also, sometimes. I got him a cory cat to keep him company, Since the corys are very sociable creatures, the cat bumped into him for days, but now they get along perfect.
If a female betta is thrown in with a male when she's not ready to mate, they will kill each other. That would be another reaction.
ok, I think that sums up "reaction" alright.
Good luck with it. lol

There are different types of Bettas and some are alot less agressive and males can be kept together, however with most stores not knowing what type they have I wouldnt risk trying as those type are extremely rare.

I have a male betta in with other fish in a community tank, he is a pretty active fish and likes to constantly swim from one end of the tank to the other at front glass.

Oh and there actualy called simiese fighting fish, not asian lol.

Unclear question. I have a beta named Herodotus. He freaks out over food, and mostly sits around the bottom of his vase the rest of the time...

Don't set them in front of a mirror. They will get aggressive with their own reflection and attack the aquarium glass, trying to get that other fish. They will turn a reddish color when aggressive.
Another name for them is Asian Fighting fish.
