the fish that just had eggs is part of a pair.. hopefully the other one is a male fish

No real way to know right off unless you caught them in the act and saw the male fertilizing them. Even then you can't know if he's shooting blanks or not. You'll know within a day or so, any unfertilized eggs will start turning white and growing fungus.

well, there is no easy way to find this out. when this happened to my grandpa's fish, he put the 'parent' fish in a separate tank, along with the eggs, and waited to see if the eggs hatched. if they dont, then no baby fishies. if they do---congratulations! you're a grandparent!!!

lol...and, if you don't want to chance the babies, then you could always take the eggs out and put them on a cracker---free caviar!!
