Fish - June 2006

[Selected]: All categories Pets Fish

I have a fairly new fish tank (about a month old) and bought some neon tetra 4 days ago. Unfortunately 2 have died already. What can I do. My water has been tested and is fine, as are the other fish in my aquarium (4 glowlight tetra and 2 male guppies).

Please help as I would hate for the remaining 3 neons to die.

Thanks

I have a pink beta fish, I have looked around a whole bunch of stores, but I can't seem to find another! Is pink an un common color for a beta?

I'm reading everything from two fantails in a 10-gallon to two oscars in a 10-gallon. Do you not realize how much waste these fish produce, and how big they're going to get?

This is not meant as a jab towards all of you. Just the ones that do asinine things like this.

Nothing bothers me more than seeing animals mistreated. How would you like to live in a closet full of feces, with no clean air or water?

well i have a red male beta fish and one day my sister told me that the fish was on its side and we all thought that it was dead. butt it wasnt, all we did was change its water and he got a little better but he still didnt swim much and wouldnt swim to the bottom of the tank. then the next day i found the water was a little orange color in the light. and i saw some of my fishes shredded fin on the bottom of the tank. this happened a while ago but now he is normal like nothing has happened to him. is this normal? has something strange and unusual happened to my fish? any answers to these questions would be great!

I have a fighting fish, and when it sees its reflection it goes crazy, so i was wondering, is it like instinct, or is like a little trigger in his brain that tells him to attack ??

That's right, and everyone who thinks that is a dumbass. There's a good article on it over at www.goldfishutopia.net

Anyways, the 1" per 1 gal only works on fish like tetras. However, goldfish, ciclids, plecos, and many other "round" fish grow exponentially. A 5" goldfish will weigh many grams lighter than a 6" one.

So please stop posting this "rule of thumb" and start giving good advice.
