Dont put snails in your pond. The benefits are small and the trouble they end up causing is huge. Snails multiply very rapidly and you will have more than you can deal with in about 8 weeks. They get into the pumps and filters and clog them and spend more time eating expensive pond plants than algae. I have a 3000 gal pond and never put snails in. I use a uv light and plants to control algae and never had a problem. My friend on the other hand has a 5000 gal pond and put snails in it and it took 2 years (and several hours every week) to rid the pond of the offending critters.

Ramshorn also breed like crazy. I love snails and if your climate can handle it I reccoment apple snails as well (check out the site the other guy listed) but if it gets too cold you could go with regular old pond snails which are football shaped. You may not need to "introduce" any, just go buy a few plants with "logs" of gooey stuff on them, those are snail eggs and will hatch.

Nah fish don't eat them. But snails do slide around the side of your pond eating the algae. Depends on how big your pond is to the amount of snails you need. But a good filter is also effective.

Snails are an important ingredient in the soup of a pond. I don't know if fish eat baby snails, but they won't eat them all in any case.

Umm... we had these snails; and it did not work at all

Why? well generally an outdoor pond is BIG and a snail is small, and move very slowly! u would be better off with something more expensive. but if u can get some lillies then u can't see the slime

This is perfect for ponds the only time the fish will eat them is when they still small, but please be careful of over population, the snail breeds quicher than a rabbit, so allow your fish to keep them under control
