...I got a male betta because I read that male betta are not hostile towards females. When I brought the betta home I put both the fish in the same tank and almost instantly the male swam towards the female and he flared up. I then realized that putting them together immediatly was not a good idea. I made a container to go inside the tank for the female to protect her from the male and to help get them used to one anothor. My Question is how long will the male continue to be aggressive towards the female and when will it be safe to put them together ?

I recently got a large placo for my cichlid tank, and he has stuff that looks like a cross between cobwebs and snot all over him.It sort of drifts in the current of the tank. The Cichlids are fine, and the little crawdad seems to be fine. What could this be? and how do I treat it?

They jump into a situation of owning a pet , ie a betta splendens especially, and havent the slightest idea of what to do, what to feed it, how often to change the water, how big the aquarium should be, what companions are best, how long the fish will live for and how many times they should wipe the fishes hole after it does a shite. The last one is a joke by the way.

My cat jumps up everywhere, so, I know I can't just put it up somewhere high up. My friend suggested a tank with a cover.

I have just recently upgraded to a 6 or 10 gallon fish tank for my two bettas. A male and female. I was wanting to increase my fish population, what kinds of fish should I get? I was thinking that I should get Zebra Danios and a snail or two. Is this a good set-up? I do not want my male to get bitten or anything. Also he is blue, should I take into consideration the colors of the other fish? Will he be fine with my female in the same tank if it's big enough?

My fish is on it's side at the top of the tank. It's stomach looks rather large too. I tried feeding him peas but he wouldn't take it. I gave him an epsol bath couple hours ago but nothing is helping him. I just saw him on his side this morning and right away put him in a seperate tank. What other ways can i help him, he may be constipated too though.

I want to get different fish than the usual platies, mollies, and swordtails. I'd like something unique but that is easy to care for.
The tank I have is a 30 gallon tall tank. It's been cycled for a year already. I did have golsfish in the tank for about a year. But now they are in my pond outside. All I have in my tank now are a few snails. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I bought him almost a week ago and I know it is normal for oscars to sometimes be tempermental when going to a new home, but i've always heard it only lasts for usually no longer than a week. now that the week is almost up and he still isn't eating or being responsive to my husband and i am really starting to worry. we made sure to purchase the exact same kind of food for him to eat so his transition would be easier but he still is not responding, he only hides from us and looks at the food when we try to feed him. i am very concerned, especially since my husband has always wanted an oscar and this is his first one. please, if anyone has any information that might help i would greatly appreciate it. thank you!

We have two "plain" goldfish (you know, the ones that cost 26 cents or so), and we bought a fancy goldfish, and he ended up dying within 5 days of being put into the tank with the other goldfish. We think maybe he had some sort of disease, but we're not sure. Every website I find says that fancy goldfish shouldn't be with aggressive fish, but I don't know if "plain" goldfish are considered aggressive. I just don't want to kill another fish so I want to make sure I get the right kind this time.

Thank you!
