I live in a second story apartment next to a guy who owns like a dozen flea ridden animals. I treat my dogs once a month with frontline...and that used to work. But now i'm starting to see fleas on them again and on my carpet....how do i keep our neighbors fleas away from my dogs?

I have a neutered 2 year old lab/mix. He has NEVER done this before. The other day, we took him to the beach, and he peed on this lady 2 times! Yesterday, he TRIED to pee on me when I was on the floor with the baby. Anybody know why and what I can do to get him to stop this bad behavior?

I just took my girl to the vet because she just got this reddish (blood blister looking) growth on the tip of the skin folds inside her ear, and it seems to grow fast. Vet said cancer, but no other "option". I cant have it removed yet (lack of funds) and an worried it could get bigger or rupture. Has anyone had a simular growth, that wasnt cancer? I have owned 7 doberman pinschers in my life, and never seen this before. My 4 yr old Weimaraner (girl) is so co-dependant on my dobie being around her, i dont know what her/I would do if we lost my dobie.

I'm taking care of a little tan cocker spaniel, cute as can be at 12 weeks, and thus far have had no problems. My original intent was not to keep the dog, the owner was just not well, however now the owner has offered the dog to me to keep due to her health conditions. The only problem being I have a 14 month old and twins on the way. I'm willing to work with my daughter to make sure she is well mannered with the dog, and make sure to do the same with the twins when they get old enough. I do have baby gates around the house, and can also make sure the dog is never unsupervised with the children. He has been just excellent in every situation with my daughter so far too, he'll sit on my lap and I let her pet him and rub his belly, and he loves it. Do you think it will be okay to keep the dog, or should I find a new home for it?

My dog runs away every chance he gets. He is always happy to see us when we find him, but gets out again. We have always found him, until today. He's been gone for 14 hours and it is cold tonight. I'm really worried and not sure what to do next.
We have reported him to the police and animal control. He unfortunately lost his name tag that last time he got out and I have not replaced it yet ( it was yesterday). But his rabies tag is still on his collar.
We have gone out driving and walking on and off all day.

Before you ask, my yard is fenced and he learned to climb the fence. I have tied him in the yard, he has broken the rope. I need to get chain to use, but it is costly - also I am afraid he will hurt himself.
At wits end- any suggestions?

Why do so many people continue to insist on hating certain animals rather than educting themselves and fighting the real villans in this world. Is it just easier to hate a dog than it is to actually come up with ways to change the people on the other side of the leash. I guess it is... but where is the gratification in that. Does it make anyone feel better to have a breed of dog irradicated rather than to educate and take a stand against cruelty? Does it really make anyone feel intellegent to be led around by the media rather than dig for the truth? Isn't there times when the harder road is more gratifying than the well worn path?
I was just working on my BSL page and thought that I should share my thoughts and questions with you (mostly) good people as well.

He is about 7-8 years old. He is a sweet dog it just gets so annoying that he doesn't eat his food(well sometimes he does, and this dog food is made for senior dogs so I would really like him to eat it) he always trys to eat the cat food, and when i yell at him, he looks at me and keeps doing it! I wouldn't mind him eating the cats food, but its making him gain weight and i dont want him to be obese. can anyone help me please!!!

So anyways, my sister has a stupid hamster and it was missing from it's cage when I came home. I noticed my dog was foaming from the mouth, there was vomit on the carpet, and he can't stay awake. He had all of his shots so it can't be rabies. I found the hamster later and it was all wet and freaked. What do you think happened, do you think my dog is sick? Should I take him to the doctor?

I have a male doberman that is two. He is not an aggressive dog, but his behavior is starting to worry me. He has been acting out toward my 2 year old son. My son can't even get down off of the couch to go play because my dog will lick him in the face uncontrollably. My son will crouch down on the floor to try to protect his face and so my dog will put his paw on top of him and gently paw at his back, stomach, legs, and diaper area. He has also started barking at my son. He has NEVER acted like this before towards any of the kids and it just started today. I don't know why he is acting like this. My husband said not to leave them alone together just incase, but I think he just needs to pay a little visit to the vet. Any advice is appreciated!!

We typically keep our seven-month-old puppy on a leash. Inside we've taught her come, sit, lay, stay, and roll over. Today, however, I was trying to throw something away in the trash can outside, and she managed to dart and pull away from me while ON THE LEASH. She ran across the street and would not come no matter how much I called. A little child frightened of dogs came along and was crying very hard. Finally I managed to call her back, but by then there was such a scene.
While it wasn't good that I let her get away by accident, but my question is HOW to get her back in a situation like that, so it won't happen again.
Thanks!
PS I never purposely have her without a leash. She managed to dart out at just the right time.

Or, if a horse can carry x percent of its body weight, could a dog also carry x percent of its body weight? (So a very large dog could carry a very small child?)

Is there something different in the physical makeup of horses that make them more suitable for riding? Does it have to do with breeding or can wild horses hold the same amount of weight as domesticated horses?
