have you been to a specialist? it could be a form of cancer, especially since it doesnt heal.

I am not a veterinarian. But my advice would be to see a specialist, or to have his foot amputated. If the nerves are damaged in his foot, and he has no feelings then the foot is just dead weight, just causing problems. If no one can figure out what is wrong, or how to fix it, maybe amputation would be the answer. Dogs do very well with only three legs. It is like they don't even notice, they can play, walk, and run just fine. Good Luck with your dog, I hope you find an answer soon!!!

When we have issues with our pets... I have 2 dogs and 2 cats and very little money currently... we hold hands around our pet and pray to God for healing. This has worked for me alot in the last few months. My 12 year old Shi Tzu was mauled by a pitt bull and her jaw was broken i didn't have money for a 2000.00 surgery so i prayed every day me and my kids and fed her thru a syringe and tried to put my hands on her injuries. I haven't seen a vet for her yet and she is eating perfectly and seems 100% normal. I'm not a religious nut i just think that if you have faith God will heal his animals, there is no reason why he wouldn't. I would definately get another opinion if you can afford to see a specialist, maybe he was bitten by a black widow or something. Good Luck to you and your doggie! If anyone reads this please say a little prayer for our friends foot! Thankyou!

Try this. Mix together a cup of Betadine solution and a cup of honey and apply it to the dog's foot daily ( keep it bandaged). I have seen this work wonders on chronic sores on dogs and horses, and I've read that they even use it on people with diabetic ulcers. Try it,and also give the dog a multivitamin and 2000 mg. fish oil daily and make sure he gets a diet with plenty of high quality protein and fat. An egg a couple of times a week is good for the skin as well. I think you'll see some improvement in a few weeks. Good luck.

1. There are no real vets on YA!
2. Get a second opinion. You should have been referred to a dermatology specialist a LONG time ago...it speaks volumes about your vet that he hasn't tried to find someone to figure this out. GSd's can be prone to autoimmune diseases. Has this been ruled out?
