We have a pair of boxers and the female has been in heat. They have tied 5 times in the last few days and we were wondering if each time they tie if that conceives 1 pup or multiple pups? I tried searching a few breeding pages out there but couldn't really find a clear answer. Thanks!

I know this question is going to get VERY controversial. Please NO thumbs down, name calling or abuse toward someone for voicing their opinion. There is NO wrong answer here.

Hypothetical Situation:
All governments in the world have come to a conclusion: ALL shelter dogs will be euthanized in order to fix the situation of overly populated shelters.

What is your reaction? Do you believe this will fix the problem, or just create more trouble? Will the amount of dogs being bred increase or will people learn from their mistakes?

My Jubilee is a 14 year old chow. I'm taking her to the vet on Monday, but I'm afraid this may be it for her. She doesn't seem to be in pain, but she's very confused. She keeps walking around in circles and every time she stops her butt slowly sinks to the ground, like she can't support her rear end. (She always walks in circles toward the left too.) She's also lost a lot of weight recently even though I'm feeding her canned food now, frequently sounds like she's snoring even when she's sitting or standing up, and she gags a lot when she's eating. What do you think? Am I going to have to say good bye to her Monday?

One store says tennis balls are dangerous, another store is pushing the expensive kong toys. Another store is pushing a product that you spray breath paste onto so it kills two birds with one store, although my dog doesnt have bad breath.

Isnt there something a dog will like that I dont have to pay 15 bucks all the time? How about marrow bones, though they could stain my carpet. All feedback and the more the better, Thanks in advance.

My vet said that x-rays won't tell till later but his hips hurt him when he sits and gets up. He is only 3 and the vet said it is rare for a small dog but he could have it.

We have a black lab that's about 15 years old. He's deaf. He's got lumps all over him. He has a very hard time getting up and down stairs. His appitite is on and off. Now, he has bladder control issues. With the cold weather coming, it's really going to be difficult to get up and down the stairs. I built a ramp for him but he won't use it. He's too heavy to keep carrying up and down. The dog doesn't seem happy but, he doesn't seem to be in physical pain. It's hard to tell. It's always been hard to tell with him.

If we do decide to put him down before it gets really cold, how do I explain it to the 4 year old? Or, do I wait until he's staying over grandma's house and say the dog took off into the woods or got hit by a car?

When having a b/m there is nothing but blood coming out. She has not eaten for 4 days, she is drinking water occasionally. I take her outside and she stands to urinate. Her respiration is 28, she appears to be resting comfortably and is alert. I don't know what to do..

My dog,Spitz breed, female ,6 yrs. has not been taking any food for the last 10 days and has gone very weak. After two days of stopping food intake, she was shown to a vet who said that perhaps she has worms in the intestine.Gluco-saline was given by drips.Fifth day she passed yellow stools of bad odour.Drips given again but still no food intake. She refused to even smell her choicest items. On seventh day, we consulted another vet, of great repute. He says she is scared badly and is in a state of shock. We had Diwali festivals in India recently when large amount of fire crackers are burnt. Some produce blasting and exploding sounds of more than 100 decibles. She might have been close to some high sounding cracker. For last 30 hours ,we are holding her in our lap and trying to talk sweetly with her so that she may get assurance that the humans are there to support and she should come out of her fears. All the dog lovers are requested to advice me, what else we can do .

I adopted Lyle (a lab terrier mix) from a shelter on October 1st. He was neutered before I brought him home, and is the sweetest lovable dog ever. He is also a great playmate for my beagle, Daisy. The only problem I have with Lyle is house breaking. He always goes potty when I take him outside. He never goes potty or poo in the house when I'm watching. In fact, I believed he was house brokent after a week because he NEVER (even the day I brought him home) went potty in the house. After about a week, I found that he would wait til I wasn't looking, and go to another room to poo or pee. So I started the crate training like a puppy. He's been doing that for about a month now I think. I let him out for Thanksgiving (hoping that this would be his time) and when I was hanging christmas lights in the kitchen, he went around the corner and left me a poo present. I have NEVER had such a problem housebreaking a dog!!! What do I do?? Will he ever be able to say out of his kennel w/ us?

I am thinking of breeding dogs. My friend from ireland said he breeds them and he'll ship them to me and I can sell them. I was looking at other breeders prices and some were $1900. This is a purebred Jack from Ireland, how much should the pups go for.

PS: I'll have only 2 or 3 at a time.

I need him to stop pulling when i walk, he is so so strong and i find it hard to control him without getting tired pretty quick. How can i train him to stop pulling away from me when i walk him. Also how do i train him to heel? He learnt sit pretty quick and i am getting him to do down now a bit too. He has a harness that goes around his legs and back which i walk him with. Any tips would be well appreciated.

Thanks

What would happen if the world of governments decided to ban breeding for one year to aid shelter dogs in finding a home?

Do you think most people would adopt rather than buy, or do you think people would simply wait until breeding was legal again?

What would the consequence for breeding your dog be?

Who would enforce this law?

Would it really help the situation or would people breed anyway, despite a law that says they cannot?

What would YOU do to make this law work? Or do you even agree with the idea?

There is NO wrong answer here. Please, no thumb downs, accusations or name-calling.

I have heard of and am familiar with AKC - American Kennel Club - but I am starting to see more and more puppies being advertised as APRI registered. What is the difference and in your opinion which is better?

My dog has destroyed my house....He goes to the bathroom all over the place all day everyday. We have spent $500 dollars on dog training and it didnt do anything and people have recommended these trainers! his morning I walk downstairs ad he chewed my livingroom pillow on my very expensive furniture. He eats all of my daughters toys and this morning he chewed her boppy pillow. This dog cannot cost us anymore money. We have tried crating him and he yelps and screams(not good with a baby in the house). We tried locking him in the kitchen and he jumps over the gate. oh and he also goes to the bathroom in the crate and rubs himself in it. Here is the catch, my husband loves him!!!! he knows that we are probubly going to have to get rid of him but he is soooo heartbroken. i dont want to hurt my husband. i don know what to do.

I have an 8 month old Doberman male with Yuguslavian bloodlines in him. He's not fully European though, I would say he's mostly from Irish dogs. (Im in Ireland).

He jumps up on the counters and table in the kitchen to destroy anything he can. We cant keep anything in there, we have the bin in the hall. He put his paw up on the TV, where theres a kind of handle, pulled it and knocked the TV over, thank god it didn't smash, it landed face down on the counter.
He uses his paws like hands.
He steals and destroys anything he can get hold of. He has eaten whole loafs of bread. He scatters the contents of bags if they are accidently left in the kitchen. No matter how far you push the stuff in on the counter, he will get it.

He destroyed his bed, he's gone through 3.

If he sees another dog, or maybe a person on a walk, he is gone like a shot and no amount of calling brings him back.
He pulls on the lead, he pulls less with the prong collar on, but he still pulls.
