The main thing with training any dog is to be consistent. Also be sure that you are the boss of the pack. A good obedience class would help as well. Be sure that the facility where you will be taking obedience has students and teachers that are active in competitive obedience.

The best is to join a training club if this is ur first Rottie. But there are many good training book available as well. The best advice I can give u is to be consistent in ur training. Rotties will do almost anything for food so reward training will help. Good luck, they are normally very trainable and intelligent even with the stubborn streak!

My best advice with all dogs, and especially rotties, which can be stubborn when it comes to training, is enroll in a good obedience class and work in a group setting. Your dog will get more socialized with other people and dogs and you'll learn to train your dog. I've had lots of dogs but we go through obedience class every time because I learn something new every time. Your vet or local humane society can probably give you a recommendation of where you can get a good class.

Rotties are wonderful dogs if properly trained and socialized. Seek out a trainer that has experience with larger dogs. The training will be most valuable for both you and your dog.
