Presume you me a yappy dog??

Jack Russel's and All "Terriers" tend to be very yappy. Yorkies etc are known to yap!

I have a Bichon Frise and she isn't yappy. Sometimes she does whimper and whine to get my attention, but she never yaps. She only ever barks if something spooks her. This is a wonderful little breed and they are excellent pets. BUT they do require daily grooming, you have to comb them every day. They are not suitable for you IF you need to leave them on their own for long periods of time. They simply do not like it and get depressed. They love people and love being around humans. They aren't a breed you can have if you go out to work / college all day and want to leave them on their own.

What ever you decide to have, please make sure you research and find out as much as you can about that breed. Its a case of finding the "best" match for YOU and your needs. Don't just be fooled by looks and appearances! Read up about their inherent nature and personalty. Best of luck, hope you manage to decide what is best for you...

i have two bichon frise, both are excessive barkers when people come in it can be annoying but you need to train them not to do it, an issue i am only working on now.. with some progress..now its mostly the male that barks too much the female is responding to the training.. good luck with whatever dog you get.. as training is very important.

all dogs can be barkers it's the training. I have both chihuahuas and poodles and they aren't allowed to be yippy and barky. yes when someone comes ot the door but when they are told quiet they are.
Even large dogs can be barkers.

Pay no attention to the person above that said "they have short fur so don't shed..." Short haired dogs shed just as long haired dogs do.

Any breed of dog, if trained properly, won't bark or yip incessantly.

you can get a Basenji, they are short fur, so don't shed. And they are the only dog that actually don't bark, but they are protective, they can howl or known to them as 'yodeling' they are cute.

here is a link to a pic of a young pup

theres a photo that I could find of their size compared to people.

I think they are gorgegous dogs, you might not think the same. But I think they would make an ideal pet.

But they do require exercise, and are playful.

Good luck finding the dog you want.
I hope I helped.

Bichon Frise! They're really cute, small, relatively healthy and not very yappy!
Not all small dogs are yappy - it depends quite heavily on how you train them.
http://animal.discovery.com/breedselector/dogprofile.do?id=1440 here's a breed profile!
btw I find them much cuter when they aren't cut like that! google bichon puppy or something and you'll see a VERY cute little dog!!

Good Luck!!

Of course, there are terrific breeds of small dogs who aren’t as “barky,” suitable for apartment living. Examples are:

Pug
Chihuahua
Poodle
Dachshund

And these are the NON- GROWING dogs I know:

Chihuahua
Dachshund
Toy Poodle
Pug

Hope it just helps.
