I live in a second story apartment next to a guy who owns like a dozen flea ridden animals. I treat my dogs once a month with frontline...and that used to work. But now i'm starting to see fleas on them again and on my carpet....how do i keep our neighbors fleas away from my dogs?

The safest and cheapest method of getting rid of fleas is to use a mixture of boric acid and salt. The powder should be sprayed on carpets, bedding and areas frequented by pets.

With my dogs I would still use frontline. But wash them with dawn. Because dog flea shampoos, well some, may have a chemical like in the frontline and too much of it will hurt your dog but the dawn kills fleas and bacteria without the chemicals.

And as for the apartment. Make a day on your calender for a 'Big spring cleaning' sometime this week. Shake out carpets, drapes, couch seats, and ect. Then do 50/50 water and bleach and bleach tile in the bathroom and kitchen and counter tops and ect. And for the carpet, I would VACUME LIKE NEVER BEFORE!
Then take a bag and put the filter which is probably riden with flea larvae and eggs away and replace it. If you have problems with fleas, you should replace your fliter everytime you vacume.
You need to get under the couch, behind tv and everywhere. Lift everything, fleas like to hide. Then call your landlord and tell them about the situation and what you had to do because of the problem. It can become a big problem because you may have to bomb the whole building.

First of all, let the landlord be aware of the problem with the next door neighbor and the havoc it is wreaking on you and your pets well being. Go to the vet and purchase some Frontline for your pets and apply it on them. Then call an exterminator and get your place treated, especially along the baseboards and walls adjoining you next to the apartment with all the fleas. Good luck!

Try some Capstar a couple of times a week and you may want to ask your vet about something called Knockout that you can spray (not on your dogs but in your apartment) but you must follow the directions carefully. If that neighbor is going to keep bringing the fleas in though, nothing will keep then away from your pups. Good luck to you and your pups!

Move on to Frontline Plus, which also kills flea eggs and larvae, and get a proper spray from a vets to treat your apartment. You may well have to spray your apartment twice, two weeks apart.

Do not use any flea treatment from a store, that would be a fantastical waste of time and money.

Call an exterminator for the Apartment and take dogs to a groomer to be bathed and dipped in a flea solution They should have a vat of water with the solution in it , and presto no more fleas.Ask your neighbor to do the same , If He does not talk to your landlord.
