We just got a new puppy and my old dog is afraid of him

The old dog is a female chihuahua that is very unkind to most strangers and is terrified of other dogs/animals. She is 5 years old

The new dog is a male 4 month old chihuahua that is very playful and full of energy

We got the puppy two months ago and she stills doesn't like him. We have tried putting a muzzle on her and putting them in the same room, but all she does is stay in the same spot until we take the muzzle off.

Whenever he gets near her she growls and will go for his face if he gets too close. She doesn't try to attack him when they are apart, only when he gets close to her

Sometimes when Im on the computer she lays next to my feet and the puppy comes up and lays in front of her with his head to the floor. All she does is turn her head sideways and not look directly at him.

Sometimes when we let him in she goes and hides in my room and does not come out

Also, what do I say to them when she tries to bite him.

Ok, so we took our dog to the vet today and they examined a large lump on the side of his mouth, practically in it. The vet said she hadn't seen anything like this in the mouth before. It's a little larger than a marble, round, as big as a canadian dollar. It's black, and has 2 lumps on it itself, gray and a red stringy thing.

Anyways, she examined him, and said to remove it would cost $380. $40 for pain meds for him. She didn't seem concerned that it was cancerous, but said another doctor will look at it tomorrow before the surgery for clarification.

His surgery is in a few hours. I know that it'll go well, but nevertheless, will they pull this over my head and say it's cancerous at the last minute, or charge us for something else?

Thanks,
Mark

I just moved in with my bf. I have a golden retriever (3 1/2 yrs) and he has a husky (3 yrs). Everytime would would have them meet, they would always fight. Well, i just moved in a few days ago. My golden had pinned down the husky and ended up putting a good size gash on the bottom of his paw right above the top pad. They are not neutered, both males. We have talked about neutering them. Then again, there is no garuntee that that will work. Does anyone know what we can do to eliminate the need for an alpha dog? If not, then what can we do to keep them from fighting without having to keep them seperated all the time? We are both busy during the day, but are home nightly.

I forgot to add that she has been kenneled, many times - everytime we put her in there..and come home, she poops in her kennel. EVERYTIME she has done it, over 10 times. She doesnt pee in it, just poop. Its very frustrating - So I felt that I needed to add that, because I was getting a lot of responses that I need to crate her...but Ive tried this...and for the record, she is 8 months old, and she is a blue heeler/black lab mix.

When I say she rips up everything.....I mean EVERYTHING!

Any help I would greatly appreciate it!

I just purchased a Chihuahua puppy. She was reasonable priced, and I saw her parents. She didn't come with papers, which is fine, because I am not interested in breeding. The only concern that I have is that she has no tail. The lady I bought her from said that she was born that way, and the rest of the litter DID have tails . I saw them. Not that it matters, because she's mine now regaurdless, but I wonder what the standard is for Chihuahuas and their tails!

Is it because she can sense she is sick? It's sad to see, but what can I do?

The alpha dog (border collie) has been sick for 2 weeks, and the past 2 days my other dog is challenging her. What should I do?
so far, I don't intervene, I keep an eye to make sure it does not turn into a fight. So far, it's been "friendly" but it's definately not a behavior my "submissive"dog usually has...and usually my border collie replies pretty quickly but not anymore. I really noticed the change today, while walking them and while playing with them in the yard, my other dog was taking over.
any suggestions? would it be bad for the moral of my sick dog?

I show my dog in a program called 4-H. I show him in obediance and showmanship and agility. I am really into obediance showmanship and agility. My dog is awesome at agility when we are at home, but when we show anywhere else, he smells everything and could care less! What should i do?

Just curious to see who here has a breed specefic decal on their car. In an old issue of Dog Fancy it says about 40% of dog owners have a decal representing the breed. I honestly thought it would be more!

Do you have one? If not, do you find them to be tacky?

I am considering getting a teacup poodle-not a toy poodle. I have a cat who mostly stays outside and a black lab who is fullgrown but isn't very big. Is this a good choice for a family of four??(kids are teens)

Please answer.
:]
No rude comments, thank you.

ALSO!
Why is the mother dog so angered/nervous when I try to interact with the puppy? Is it because she's afraid I'll hurt it?
