Yes! In fact the DEA runs the "Beagle Brigade" at the Orlando International airport. It is a program where they teach beagles how to sniff for drugs and other contraband.

The question has been pretty well answered. Just wanted to add they are also used as rescue dogs to sniff out people buried in rubble after a disaster.
I have one and I am amazed at what he finds, mostly food as he has not been trained to sniff out anything. I found him with his nose stuck to the bottom of the stove. I got something to check what was under there. Turned out to be a 1/2" piece of dog biscuit. It didn't attract the other three dogs.

Yes, and they are also a favorite of US Customs agents to find contraband being brought into teh US like fruits and vegetables because their size makes it easy to put them on baggage conveyers to sniff luggage.
