When i play fetch with my dog, after she has brought the ball back she drops it out of her mouth, lays down and has her two front paws around the ball. Every time I go to get the ball she burries her head into her paws, so the ball is between her paws and under her head, and growls at me. I have tried to get her to give it to me by giving her treats, but she doesn't seem to associate getting treats with giving me the ball, and I dont really want to spend too much money on dog treats. I've tried using two balls and throwing one when she brings back the other, but that's not stopping her from being overly protective of her ball.We have little children around her most of the time, and Im worried that she might snap at one of them if they attempt to get her ball. Why is she so protective of her ball, and how can i stop it?

We have had her over a week and tried leaving the radio on, but as soon as we leave her she starts. When I get up and let her out of the crate she settles down and goes back to sleep. After a week of sleepless nights and worrying about the neighbours, does anyone think if I give her the run of downstairs, it might solve the problem? She goes in and out of the crate during the day, but as soon as we shut the door she starts howling. We let her out and she settles down under the table. I really am at my wits end and although I love her dearly am seriously thinking of giving up and re homing her. HELP?

A recent question asked what you would sacrifice for your dog, life savings, house, relationship. Alot of the answer say that their dog comes first no matter what. Does that mean it comes before your kids too? As in would you let your child suffer from, allergies or being bitten or something, so you could keep your dog?

I THINK he ate this, he may not of.. But what would happen if he did?

Its part of a necklace.
Its a chain about 2 and a half inches long, but its really thin.

The chain links are about 1mm thick.
Basically a very small thin piece of jewellary.

If he has eaten it, will he be ok?
Hes 3 months old.

Before anyone goes off on me, I know it's my fault for not socializing her well enough when she was a puppy BUT I have a 2.5 year old female chihuahua who hates EVERYONE except me, my parents, my boyfriend and occasionally she'll be okay with my boyfriend and I's roommate (he lives here off and on as he is a Marine). She loves to go to the lake and car rides but I can't take her to the dog park or Petsmart/Petco because she HATES people, I'm not even sure how she'd react with other dogs because she is so concentrated on the people. If someone gets within one foot of her she will growl and she WILL try to bite them. I don't know what to do. Is this behavior correctable?

Does anyone use the search feature?
Does anyone google anymore? And yes, "google" is now a verb.

Do you realize that when you get a dog, you got yourself a baby? A baby that depends on you for the rest of its life?

Did you realize that if you leave your dog unsupervised it can:
destroy your property, get into trouble, get hurt, end up dead?

Considering getting a dog? Why not volunteer at a shelter, see what dog-ownership entails?

Want a cheap dog? Cheap dogs are like "cheap children." They do NOT EXIST!

Did you think about your question before you hit "submit?"

She has had hair loss but no loss of energy. She is also very touchy if you try to stroke her on her back or near her hind legs.

We were told by our vet that she is showing signs of anxiety and to work her harder which we have and the poor dog can hardly move now. He is now saying she could have arthiritis or hip dysplacia. Her mother and fathers hips were good. This is our second vet opinion, The first one reckon she picked up a mite from the woods. Has anyone had any similar problems with their retreiver?

I was just thinking, office visits are $27 each plus the extra work that needs done. If I took all of my dogs in at the same time, would I be charged per dog or per visit?

Does this make sense?

These meats are a few to maybe 6 months old. I would fully cook these meats first of course. I've heard that in the wild dogs digestive systems can tolerate the consumption of spoiled meat from animals. I know that household dogs are domesticated and used to a different diet but I think their stomachs could possibly handle the consumption of these older, freezer burned, but not spoiled meats. What do you think? Thanks in advance!

I recently got a 6 month old black lab from his previous owner who said he could not afford to care for the dog properly. he said the dog recieved the 1st set of shots but that was it. I was wondering if I need to get him the missed sets or if I can just jump the most recent. I believe within the 1st year a puppy is supposed to have 3 main sets of shots then rabies. The dog seems to be in good health eats well and has lots of energy. I live out in the contry and can buy the shots at the local feed store but need to know what to buy.

he hasn't taken it in 2 months and we're worried that he's going to get heart worms soon, does anyone have any ideas of how we can get him to eat it? he's really a small dog, he only weighs 7 or 8 pounds and he just turns his nose up at it whenever we try and give it to him at the beginning of the month, if anyone has any good ideas you'll get 10 points in the morning, thanks.
