Does anyone use the search feature?
Does anyone google anymore? And yes, "google" is now a verb.
Do you realize that when you get a dog, you got yourself a baby? A baby that depends on you for the rest of its life?
Did you realize that if you leave your dog unsupervised it can:
destroy your property, get into trouble, get hurt, end up dead?
Considering getting a dog? Why not volunteer at a shelter, see what dog-ownership entails?
Want a cheap dog? Cheap dogs are like "cheap children." They do NOT EXIST!
Did you think about your question before you hit "submit?"

@ DOG OWNER - The "cheap" comment wasn't aimed at you. There are just so many, bewildered people on here looking for dogs that are "free" or they have very specific goals: 2#, sickly, maltese that does tricks when it's first born.
Reading is fundamental...and asking questions is part of educating oneself, but there's a difference in asking a question and simply being too lazy to LOOK for answers to basic questions.

You took the words rght out of my mouth!
I have had to refrain from answering a lot of questions on this board b/c I get so angry just reading them!
Help!!! My dog is vomiting, blood is coming out of every orefice, its rear legs just fell off and it hasn't eaten in 4 days! Should I call a vet? I really don't want to spend the money, is there something I can do at home?
Hey! Where can I get the best possible dog ever for free?? It can't shed and must already be housetrained!
Help me decide!!! What teacup toy breed will best match the interior of my house? It would be great if it also coordinated with my 10 purses that come in varying shades of pink!

Funny...I want to ask this of some people here asking these type of questions. If I were wanting to get into breeding or wanted to know something about a particular breed...I would either google it or buy a book. I'm quite surprised at times when someone asks breeding questions AFTER their dog has been bred or when it is showing signs of what they think may be labor. How do you go about answering these types of questions when there is so much to say?? You want to help these people, but when trying to think of how to answer without writing a book..you think "what are they thinking?" Are people really this ignorant?

There are many schools of thought on reincarnating souls; one that seems to prevail is that yes, souls often return to others with whom they have a strong bond. What form they take & why is also a matter of debate, however in my experience dogs, in particular, often return, though perhaps not the same breed - or species. I have seen many instances where it's nearly undeniable that a new pet carries the soul of an old friend. Some believe these pets to be "guardian" souls/spirits that did not finish their protective task(s) in their previous incarnation, which also explains the intense love/bond their human caregivers feel for them. If you feel a unique connection to this animal, strongly similar to your previous pet, I would suggest that your hunch is very likely correct. Congratulations! Enjoy your renewed relationship with your very special friend...

I have 2 dogs one i have had for 14 years the other for 3 years so I know dogs are a responsibility.I had a cat for 12 years and spent $500.00 to try to make her well. One thing a vet will tell you is if you do not want to spend money to keep your animals healthy and well fed then don't get a pet.

I google all the time, everyday! =]
Unfortunately, most people don't understand what it takes to own a dog and I agree 100% with you, its like having a child, I tried explaining that to my husband, and he's now just understanding what it takes to own a dog.
Dog food, flea control (for dog, home and yard) potty training, playtime, obidience lessons (sorta like school) flea shampoos, vet visits (like a pediatrcian). There's so much to put into a dog, sometimes I wonder whats harder kids or dogs, because with dogs......YOU are their OnLy voice.
AND I am very much against breeding....theres to many dogs in need of a home and a companion of all breeds, for anyone to "Breed " dogs right now is very ignorant of some people, I feel they breed dogs for money, because if they really love their dog, they would have their pet altered. And I'm not pointing any fingers, its just my opinion.
GOOGLE is my source for information for dogs.

One gets tired of saying the same thing over and over doesn't one?
You are quite right, most of the questions here can be looked up but people seem to be too lazy to bother, so some of us keep answering because we worry about dogs being abused out of sheer ignorance.
Some of the answers on here scare me more than the questions, it becomes a contest of wills if the dog isn't potty trained in a day or less or acts like a puppy or has issues.
How I wish people would learn about dogs before getting one.

I agree with you when it comes to uneducated people taking on a responsibility ~ one they have no idea on what it entales!!!
As for cheap dogs ~ rescue is the way to go there are alot of dogs out there looking for a second chance at life and alot of times, you can get a very wanted dogs for really next to nothing.
I have 3 little boys, Poms ~ and the are my kids period....

The answer to that is no they don't think about their question before pushing submit. I have missed the pets section. Okay I agree that this site is for answering seeminly simple questions, but it should be obvious that when your pet has been "throwing up for days?" which is one I seem to see a lot that you need to take it to the vet. I don't care to answer the same question over and over but a little common sense would be nice.

Well said. I give you an A+. Most people want dogs just to show off how cute they are. I have 2 dogs and they r like my babies. It is not cheap to purchase one, and not to take care of them, like kids they need medical attention too. I love my girls and will be heart broken if harm comes to any one of them.

You have points my friend, however, when I use the term "CHEAP" I refer the original purchase price, not care & maintenance. For example, I often refer to MUTTs as being "cheap" in that many are, like two of mine, still FREE. With that said, I don't go on to explain that puppy shots, licensing, food, vet bills and leashes, collars and dog houses are NOT free.
And please don't misunderstand me, I think you are correct that this needs to be understood PRIOR to getting a dog.
