These meats are a few to maybe 6 months old. I would fully cook these meats first of course. I've heard that in the wild dogs digestive systems can tolerate the consumption of spoiled meat from animals. I know that household dogs are domesticated and used to a different diet but I think their stomachs could possibly handle the consumption of these older, freezer burned, but not spoiled meats. What do you think? Thanks in advance!

Actually your dog is better designed to eat and digest meat raw. Dogs haven't been domesticated long enough for their digestive tracts to adjust to cooked foods. They can digest some of it, but nowhere as well as they can if its raw.

The freezer burned meat is just fine, and even better raw.

Lil Mama, purebred or mixed, a dog is a dog, and their digestive tracts remain the same.

As far as pancreatitis this is caused by to much FATTY food, not meat. If the meat is really fatty, trim some away.

Raw bones are safe, cooked are not.

Freezer burn is nothing more than a freeze dried spot on the meat. The meat is OK for consumption by your dog or you too for that matter. All you have to do is cook the meat and give it to your dog.

To be honest, you should really cook it first. As long as it is not rotten or spoiled, only a little freezer burnt then it should be OK. You should only feed a dog raw meant that is Human Grade and FRESH. Not old and burned. So cook it.

I had to disagree with Jess. Not all dogs are the same. Dalmatians are totally different than other dogs and should never be fed raw meat or organ meat of any kind. Their digestive tracts are similar to horses not other dogs. You wouldn't give a horse raw steak would you? So don't do it to a dal. Dals need corn, wheat, soy and veggies as a main diet not meat.

Freezer burn on meat does not mean you have to dispose of the meat...there is really nothing wrong with it. You can cook it and eat it yourself.

I wouldn't recommend feeding the meat to your dogs, unless it is boneless, skinless, white meat chicken...in which case, they can have a little bit thrown in with their regular food. Steer clear of any red meat or other meat that contains high amounts of fat and bones.

For over 50 plus years my Dad and Mom give freezer burnt meats to our pets out side...Dogs/cats ....
Never hurt them in anyway ...I can't not eat it myself ,gives me a tummy ache for days ...Never hurt anyone else in my family hmmm....We always cooked the meat and bones ...Cooking the bones helps make them soft and easier to chew .....I have been doing it myself for over 30 yrs..
I always boil the meats for the fur babies ...

Freezer burnt means only that alot of the moisture is out of the meat.. Wasn't wrapped properly or package was torn or something.. It's fine..
